Just curious about the navi on the TSX
Last week, I was in Atlanta meeting up with someone (drove 3hrs one way) and since I was using the TomTom, I was thinking how great would it be if the TomTom allows you to 'bookmark' a new place that you happen to accidentally drive to and would like to go back to it someday.
To my knowledge, I can't do that with the TomTom (though I must admit I haven't looked it up yet), but I was wondering if the Navi in the TSX do that?

I do it frequently.
1. Tap the voice command button.
2. Say, "register current location". The navi will respond by asking you which driver's address book you want to add it to.
3. Say, "1". (I'm the primary driver).
4. Say, "done" or tap the "Done" button on the navi screen.
5. The entry will be saved under a generic name (I can't remember what it actually is saved as...). Go back next time you're free, access your address book, and change the name of the entry.
I use it from time to time...my latest entries are:
- nice stop on the side of a mountain road to take pictures
- One of those london-style loops in orange county where you can drive in circles
- Stores that looked interesting and I'd like to take a trip back to check it out
- Favorite pit-stops for road trips so I can use them as waypoints
There are a few options you can do if you want navi:
1. Get a portable navi unit like TomTom. Some are nice because you can use it while you're walking. The bad thing is that you have to put it away and set it up everytime you're done driving (or about to drive)...otherwise people will break in to steal it. Also, the one from the car rental agency wouldn't let me touch it while the car was moving. That sucked so much...I was used to my acura navi (which is one of the highest rated navi units). If your passenger can't even touch the unit to make adjustments, then that's a minus for me.
2. Find someone who's selling their OEM navi unit (From a wrecked TSX) and have it installed in your car. It's very involved...you have to take apart the inside of your car to route the cables to the trunk, etc.
3. Get an aftermarket navi unit and customize it into your dashboard storage bin area.
4. Sell your TSX and buy one with navi =P
I almost didn't get the navi because I never get lost and I just upload mapquest instructions to my PDA. Now I just need to jot down the address and have my navi chart the route. If I need gas or I'm hungry, I can ask for pitstops. I use the calendar and calculator functions often too
