Which JDM headlight do you prefer?

Which JDM headlight looks better?

04-05 CL7 JDM Headlight? or 06-07 JDM Headlight?

06+

It's entirely clear including the turn signal.

06-08

I don't like the orange turns.
If you're buying a JDM light so you don't have orange anymore
in your headlights, then go with 06-08.
The 04-05 ones only change out one orange piece, the sides.

There's the ones from ebaY to consider too though...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...em380008254810
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...em300209149934
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JSPEC...em310034204580

These ones are clear all the way through, and dirt cheap!

$275 for JDM headlights sound almost too good to be true. Maybe they depreciated in value due to 09 models coming out soon.

They're not JDM, just look at them.

They're some sort of knock off, but they just may work good.
Nobody knows yet, we're all too skeptical to buy them.

I just paid out the rear for 06-08 JDM lights with Demon Eyes installed on them.
These ebaY lights would have saved me $500.

But who knows how good the quality of projectors are...
And if the beam pattern is indeed JDM or if it's a USDM pattern.

Depends on the color of the car.

For a white, silver, or CGP TSX, 06+.

For all other colors, I prefer the 04/05. CGP could actually go either way as I love how my 04/05's look on my car.

Just clarifying, when you say JDM and USDM beam pattern, I'm assuming that everyone who buys JDM headlights don't mind blinding incoming traffic since JDM beam pattern would be raised on the left side, am I right?

Pretty much, unless you swap your projectors for USDM ones, that's how it is. I've been running JDM headlights with JDM projectors for a year or so now and have been flashed maybe twice. I don't think it's nearly as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

As Heeltoe once said, "If you end up in hell, it won't be for running JDM headlights."

For me it really depends on the color of the car. Some look better with the grey sides and some look better with the blue.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST swapping the projectors though. It really is not specifically necessary and you risk doing damage. It is better to get the EDM headlights if you can. They look the same as USDM but come with LHD projectors.

You mean EDM looks like JDM, right?

The problem is finding EDM lights. Not as easy as it may sound...
Or at least it wasn't for me and several others.
Maybe we're all missing something though...

They look identical actually.

I have EDM 04-05 in my "list of stuff I can get if you are willing to wait for it." I am working on getting 06-08 now.

This is the problem we currently have.
Nobody has them, nowhere to get them.
For a price worth paying that is.

If they were readily available, I would have no need to buy JDM.
But I couldn't find any 06-08 EDM's for the life of me, so I went with
what was available.

Oh well, I'll just deal with my backwards beam pattern for now...

Swapping the projectors is an extremely easy, 10 minute task. I've done no less than a dozen pairs now. Yes, you have to pry it a little bit, just use common sense and its not a problem.

EDM heads are next to impossible to get, unless you grab them off ebay.de or another euro country. I tried that at first, but ended up Heeltoe'ing some JDMs and swapping the projectors.

Honestly, someone should just bone up for the JSPEC knockoffs and swap your stock projectors in. I bet it works just fine!

Oh, and thread moved.

I just can't trust those ebay crap. They looked like someone photoshop the stock orange sidemarker to clear one. Unless they provide real picture, it is hard to believe it. I think it's just waste of money... rather save up and get the legit one! You can find used 04-05 for pretty damn cheap. I sold mine for $350 shipped so...

one thing about cheap headlight units is that they get fogged up really easily and really fast... by that i mean, you'll see condensation building up inside the unit in no time

^ you can fix that by putting a some silicone glue around the edges to make sure no moisture gets in. It worked fine when I did it to my accord headlights.

But those ebay ones look pretty dope. I prefer the 04-05 headlights because I don't like the reflectors.

I actually got the 275 ones off of ebay because my passenger side had collected moisture due to bad sealing on my part , and so instead of paying 400+ to Acura to get a replacement I just decided to get these and swap both out. (Not to mention that 400+ would be just for that assembly alone, I still had to replace the ballast because it blew)

I am putting them on tomorrow, and will take pics and post them. It came with amber bulbs because the turn signals are clear, but I don't like that look so I ordered some amber led's to swap them with, and I already had replaced the side markers with hyper white, so we will see how it looks

i have an 06 but i like the look of the older lights
i think completely clear doesnt look good against white, i like the litte orange blinker

i just picked up a complete set of 05 jdm lights (bulbs ballast etc) for $650

you don't have to remove the complete projector
just unbolt the projector and leave it in, then remove the little shield in the center of the projector and swap it with your oem usdm one

then you have jdm lights that function correctly
very easily done

X2...
Plus keep in mind when you buy cheap lights that are real OEM often times they aren't silled right. Then your lights are going to be fogging up or even filling up with puddles of water in them. Not good. I bought Ebay lights for my last car and they litterally would have an inch of water inside after it rained.
Pay the money and get the real thing. The money is worth it.

OK, finally got them on and got some pics. Out of curiousity, did the size of the HID ballast change from the 04-05 models to the 06+? Because I have 06, and when I got the headlights realized the box said 04-05, the only issue I had was the ballasts not fitting in the spot on the bottom of the headlight so I had to zip tie them on. Other than that, everything works great, and I doused them with water to check for leaks and nothing happened, so I will keep an eye out for leaking.

To see what mine looked like cleared before the leak started on that which blew my ballast, here's the thread https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=cleared

On with the pics

Yes, the 06+ ballasts do not fit on the 04-05 headlights and vice versa. It looks like these were meant to be direct fits for the 04-05.

The beams are definitely not usdm, but I'm not sure if they are JDM or just out of alignment because there isn't a line per se like there was before. I was driving on the highway at night and my headlights were lighting up the overhead signs, but I don't think I will change it, kinda like it that way.

The ballasts were the only issue, other than that everything fit right up.

that is a blower...it is probably missing the deflectors inside the projectors. i bet it almost looks like you have your high beams on without those things.

Is there any chance you can take a picture of the beam pattern late at night?
So we can see what it looks like?

you're awesome, thanks for the info so far.

So... just buy these and put in your stock projectors. I don't understand why people aren't doing that!

And yes, 04/05 and 06+ used a different physical ballast. Everything else is the same (fitment wise).

I understand quite easily.
Opening and dismantling several headlights is not a job most want to do.

If there was a comprehensive DIY, or if more people had done so easily in the
past and documented it, you might see more willing to try.

But most are not.

Our lights are very expensive, and if condensation becomes an issue from a
poor job resealing the lights, it could cost us lots of money.
And then it wouldn't seem too worth it.

Basically, fear of messing it up.
That's why it's not being done much DIY style.
