iPod Integration
#42
I just installed the iSimple in my '06 non-navi and it is working great. I came from an Integra with an Alpine head unit with iPod integration and this is nearly identical in operation.
I'm a happy customer.

Question. I don't have an ipod but just want a basic 3.5mm aux input. I'm wondering if any new solutions came out since back in 2004 when i installed my aux input that you had to splice the wires into the connector yourself. Anything new and better since then? I'm gonna search it right now.

I wanted to upgrade my iPod 4GB nano (first generation) to the nano fifth generation. I did so at Best Buy. However, I have the isimple iPod integration kit installed in my car and it wouldn't supply constant power to the newest nano. It even said on the screen that it's not supported. I ended up returning the device because I need the power to work along with playing the songs. What nano generations work with the isimple in terms of supplying power to the device? Has anyone used the 4th generation nanos with isimple?

The Isimple can be fixed to power/recharge late Ipods by one of two methods.
First, a Scosche Passport adapter.

About $30. Plugs between the Ipod and the Isimple Ipod cable. The disadvantage of this solution is that it plugs into the bottom of the Ipod and makes it somewhat long.
Second, a new Isimple cable.

About $25. Replaces the Isimple Ipod cable.
These solutions both supply USB charging voltages to the connected Ipod. Apple changed from Firewire voltages.

I'll go ahead and get that upgrade cable for isimple.
