IPOD aux cable?
IPOD aux cable?
How does one get on the cable that you can connect to your iPOD shuffle to connect to the 06 TSX aux input?
ie. what is it called? And no, I don't feel like getting ripped off by the dealer. I'm sure the cable must be cheap, right? right?

It's actually 9.99 at Radio Shack. At least in Tullahoma. Anyway, thanks everyone for the tips... I'm listening with my IPOD shuffle.

Oh, the cable I found and have been using is one made by Nyko (sorry, can't remember the name; I found it at Compusa). It's got the proprietary iPod connector on one end, and red/white RCA jacks on the other. You can pair it with a $3 adapter from Radioshack to plug it into the TSX 1/8" headphone jack. The really nice thing about this setup is that you get _line out_ audio from the iPod into the TSX Aux input. This means that you never have to fiddle with the volumes to get good quality sound (this was often a problem for me when I'd pull the iPod out to use with headphones, and the volume was set to some incredibly loud level). Also, the cable is white, and plenty long to dangle out of the center console.
I found a cool belkin product that works well for those of you that have Dock compatible Ipods (sorry shuffle). It plugs into the 12V power in the center armrest console. Also on the Belkin it has a stereo mini plug (female) you can take a cheap Radio Shack stereo cable (male to male) plug it into the Belkin product and then into the AUX port in the TSX. All you have to do is plug in the dock connector to the IPOD and you are off to the races. the item was about 45 dollars at CompUSA
Yeah, I've heard good things about the Belkin. It uses the AUX output, has adjustable gain, and charges the Ipod too. You can get one for about $20 on Ebay.
I just did a search, I don't know anything about this seller but there are a lot of them similarly priced. Just do a serach on "Ipod belkin auto kit".

Even though i used the aux input for the last few months, i just installed the USA Spec SHOND-PA11-2y this week, and aside from it being a DAMN EASY install, i definitely have to say i won't be going back to using the regular cable to use my ipod, using the steering wheel to click through the tracks, as well as being able to customize playlists for the car, is definitley worth it... also this leaves the aux input open for others who bring in their own ipod into my car and want to let me listen to a new song, or anything else that i might want to do with it....
if you're gonna spend mor than 3 bucks on an aux cable, i'd highly suggest spending a bit extra and getting the USA Spec... definitely worth it...

Nope USA Spec doesn't interfere with XM if you get the newest version that Elduderino in the a/v section has.
The USASpec is great, I installed it in a member's ride awhile ago, and I liked it a lot. It cost like $120 shipped though, while the Belkin cost $20 shipped.
The USASpec does have the advantage of automatically pausing and unpausing the ipod when you get in and out of the car. You also get your steering wheel controls of FWDing tracks and the option to use non direct mode which assigns the 1st 5 playlists to the 1-5 buttons on the factory stereo.

The newest one (the -2y) doesn't interfere with XM from what i'm told...
It's SO easy i couldn't believe it myself, you pull out the centre pocket (like 30 seconds of work cuz i was afraid to break it, which you won't) you feel up underneath the HU and unplug the input from the navi if u have navi, otherwise i think there won't be anything in that slot, you plug in the end of the USA Spec that goes to the radio (it's a Y cable) and put the plug that was previously going into the radio into the input part of the Y cable from the USA spec. Then you connect the wires to the USA spec, set your preferences from the manual (direct/playlist, aux input/play all) and then run your wire to your ipod... and you're done.
It honestly took me longer to drill the hole to run the wire through for the ipod (it's now sitting in the centre console pocket, so i drilled a hole in the back corner of it) than it did to install the damn thing... because it REALLY is plug and play...
http://www.usaspec.com/ipod.html
that's the main site, not too much info there but you get the idea...
i think you can find the manual in .pdf form on crutchfield...
Also it charges your ipod while it's plugged in
AAANNNNDDD best of all it pauses and resumes when you leave the car/switch inputs on your HU/or even pick up a call on your HFL or make a command to the Navi (atleast it does on mine...)
also you can create playlists and if you name them HONDA1, HONDA2 they automatically get set to 1, 2 when you plug in your ipod... otherwise it picks the first 5 playlists...
while it was more than the other options, i'm definitley happy with the purchase... also with another aux input, it provides the possibility for doms nav2tv upgrade down the road...

Just wondering, this USA SPEC ipod adapter... it says that it replaces the CD Changer input. I would like to leave the CD input working. I don't really use the XM radio. Is this possible? to have the CD working and the IPOD interface as you said - controling songs and tracks through the steering wheel?

That monster is a rip off. You're just paying for the name.
