Impressive mileage on a tank for me

I just drove to Bayonne, NJ from Montreal, QC (680KM or 425 miles). The whole trip took 56 litres (14.8 gallons)! That's almost 29 miles per gallon. It's the first time I get over 20 miles per gallon. Considering I constantly drove the whole trip between 130 and 145KM/h (80 and 90mph) I find it quite impressive.

Just had to share a slice of life

That's not an acurate way of measure MPG, so it could be higher.

If you keep it under 80 you could get 33mpg like I did on my last roadtrip.

But there's gas still in the tank. You have to fill up and reset your odometer (everything is at 0). Then when it's time to fill up again, you take the mileage and divide that by the amount of fuel you put in. The fuel you put in will equal the amount of fuel you used. To be as acurate as possible, you have to go to the same gas station and use the same pump as different pumps may stop at different times. And don't top off.

also .. i notice the second half of the mark on the gas gauge .. it drops down hella fast. By the time i get to middle mark .. i've driven aobut 180 miles .. after that .. when it's time to refill .. its about 300 .. isnt that odd???

That's why I said it was pretty good gas mileage considering the speed I was driving at...

Driving at 50mph would probably yield even better gas mileage...

Considering 90 mph, that's pretty good.
