Imagine the TSX with the RDX 240 hp turbo engine in it!

Other then the 240 turbo 4 cl. engine what else would you change on the tsx. I really dont need 2 have the bigger engine im fine with the one it has now. These things would be cool.

1. aluminum strip on the back seats doors so it doesnt look so cheap. The TSX is the only car ive seen without something there.
2. LED tail lights
3. I cool looking key fob, that doesnt look cheap
4. Having an option to get seats that have cooling fans insted of heat because i live in miami, fl

I still love my 06' tsx no matter what!

What do you guys think????

i think acura needs to start listening to what buyers want. they say they do....but what really happens? for a brand to move upscale, you need to know what you have before you can attract customers
IMO 260 ft lb will not do for FWD on a 3300lb car.

I'd have been tempted to save up more and bought the TSX if it was a turbo with 240hp. After driving both the TSX and my car there wasn't much difference in the power so I went with the Accord.

The Mazda MP3 was a beloved car it won many comparison reviews. But, everyone always harped the Protege' needed more power despite it's great chassis.

Well, it got that power in the form of a Mazda Speed Turbo a year later, then what happened, no one loved the car. The torque steer was the downfall.

The TL was harped for torque steer. If the TSX went with the Turbo it may have too much power for a FWD car, perhaps not.

But by the time we get done harping everyone will want AWD, monster turbo, then everyone will harp about the $37,000 price...

I drive several cars thanks to my job in sales, and the best part about the TSX is the amazing chassis, it communicates so well for a FWD. Buying a TSX for the HP numbers is all the wrong reasons IMO.

Did you just learn the word "harp"

I'm only kidding, I agree with you though. We can sum it up pretty easily. AWD, more power, push button start, cooled seats, and a $20,000 price tag.

I say Acura needs to develop a AWD or RWD TSX for the next gen. 240+ HP on a compact FWD is a big no no.

TSX needs these as well:

- One touch moonroof controls
- One touch up/down windows for ALL windows, not just drivers
- Auto locking (like audi and VW) that can be controlled through the MID
- Memory mirror settings that go with the seats
- Passenger side mirror goes down when in reverse
- A compass intergrated to the mirror

TSX can use:

- 6 speed Auto
- Push button start
- Smart key (optional feature)
- Speed sensitive volume for the radio

Although this is the case, there are still some TL owners who want a J35 with 300hp on the front wheels.

Not offered on (my) '05, and from what I've read on the '06 the Acura offered Music Link was a POS.

at least it needs two versions, the regular and a sporty w/the turbo and shawd...like the scooby WRX but more refined.

i'd take turbo w/awd and willingly pay for it (assuming it's around $33k)

It's not the 240 HP that's the problem, because that occurs at a very high RPM. Torque steer occurs at very low speeds when you turn the wheel slightly under heavy throttle. At 1500 - 2000 rpm, this engine would be putting down well less than 50 HP. But if it's a turbo, it may be pulling over 200 ft-lbs of torque at 1500 rpm. THAT's what causes torque steer when you're in 1st and barely rolling.

Rather than more luxury features and more power, I'd rather see less weight. The current engine would be fine if they could shave 800 pounds or so off of the car.

800lbs!!!

BMW didn't save that much weight with the M3 CSL.

You could make the hood, fenders, roof, and trunk from CF and still not save 800 lbs.

saving 800lbs, that's called owning a Fit

Yeah I know I was being aggressive with that number but hey this is a wish list. The rules didn't say our wish had to be realistic. I’m just saying I would rather see Acura focus more on performance and less on luxury. I’m probably in the minority here but I think the luxury features already on the TSX are enough. I drove a TL for a week a few months ago and I thought its extra luxury features (e.g., auto downward pointing mirrors when in reverse) were just kind of frivolous and goofy.

true.

heard nothing but excellent reviews about the car. excellent chassis, sufficient hp/torque, etc.

hard to find in the used car market (toronto/gta).

KPTechnologies has the one-touch sunroof controls... technically it is a 2 touch, but none-the-less. He is just building them now I assume.

Actually, that's a good one. I have no idea why the TSX doesn't have a stiffer rear bar. It's not like it would cost the factory any more and there aren't any ride quality penalties to pay.

TSX Type-S...

RDX Engine W/ 6 Speed Transmission
SH-AWD
Lose the Moonroof
Stiffer Chassis
Lose the Leather for Cloth
A-Spec Springs W/ Better Shocks

I guess I could go on and on, but that's a good start!

Stiffer rear sway bar for maybe a few bucks production cost would be a wise move, especially for the next gen TSX. It makes such a huge difference.

As far as engine HP output goes though, remember they have to have differentiation between the $28k, $34k, and $49k sedans that they sell. You will hurt the TL sales if the TSX jumps up to within 7% of total power (240 vs 258). I guess the TL will probably get a bump and then the TSX will probably get a bump.

Most of the features mentioned are great ones, and ones I might have opted for. But it will put the car closer to TL pricing.

Why does BMW, Audi, Lexus, MB , Infiniti etc not worry about this. Its a lame excuse that simply doesn't fly.

330 - 530
A4 3.2 - A6 3.2
IS350 - GS300 soon to be 350
C350 - E350
G35 - M35

Not calling you lame, its just that I've heard that excuse many times before and its never made any sense.

By the sounds of things, the TL will be getting the RL's 3.5L V6, so a power bump for the TSX is pretty well assured.

Good point.

Now go get Canon to put the 5D's sensor into the 30D and I'll be a happy guy.

I'd add to the list more durable paint/clearcoat. Honda seems to perenially have a problem with durability and longevity of their paint. Mine marrs or scratches at the slightest provocation, the paint on my 2000 Tahoe seems impervious to pain.

I would be afraid that a thicker rear antiroll bar might upset the car's balance a bit too much when negotiating a tight turn on a bumpy road. It already feels a little unsettled when pushed to the limit on poorer surfaces. It would also degrade rear seat ride comfort a bit (not that I necessarily care).

However it might help make the car more prone to oversteer when the throttle is lifted, which can be very handy if used properly.

definitely not something i'd want to be forced to pay for. i hate my ipod, don't really want it integrated into my car. the aux in is nice enough so that it works with ALL mp3 players.

Hey, I'm with you. I'd like a TSX with 40 more HP. But I wouldn't have bought one with a $5-6k hit. I might have spent $1500-$2000 more. They seem to sell as many TSX's as they want, while selling many more TL's. And I don't really see any of those cars with those engines that are well under $30k, unless the options list is stripped.

I would assume that Acura would know the balance point of taking sales away from more expensive Acura sedans vs attracting other consumers to the brand.

yeah 800 is a lot, i'd take 300-500 lbs off this baby and be very happy with it. but there's not that much for them to cut (Especially if people want more added features).

what quality needs enhancing?

the door lock you scrolled past has to do with the time it waits to lock after you unlock it with the keyfob (safety, in case you bumped the unlock in your pocket while walking away at the mall or something).

i agree with isolation of road noise, but that means more weight also.

Umm...because technically, the TL doesn't compete with the 5-series, the A6, or any of the other cars you mentioned. Technically, it competes with the larger engined version of the lower end cars you listed. The RL is the direct competitor to the 5-series, A6, etc.

Example:

TL = 330 competitor, TSX = 325 competitor
TL = A4 3.2 competitor, TSX = A4 2.0t competitor

The TL is really in sort of a strange market segment, but I'd rather the TL and TSX stay two separate models because I don't like the size of the TL. I prefer the smaller dimensions of the TSX.

Not gonna happen because the benefit of the smaller sway bar is a little more understeer, which is preferred since the average car buyer doesn't really drive that well.

I could see them going up to 19mm maybe -- heck even the RSX-S has a thicker RSB.

Quick Reply: Imagine the TSX with the RDX 240 hp turbo engine in it!
