illuminated door sills...gone forever or a new hope?

I hope this thread got some people's attention. It's sad to see that there are plenty of vendors (including here on this forum) that sell illuminated door sills for the TL. I've tried to convince some ebay vendors that there are a lot of tsx owners that would be interested in custom illuminated sills for their front and back doors. Unfortunately, no one has been willing/able to make this happen. Does anyone know if our sills are just hard to replicate? There were custom sills on ebay in the past, but none have been available for quite some time. They look like this for the TL...

I would definitely rock these if they were available (and affordable). You're saying they used to be available for the 1st gen TSX once upon a time?

I'd buy them in a heartbeat, so long as they weren't outrageous (<$300) and could be done DIY.

I could be mistaken, but I thought a few forum members here had bought some from an ebay seller. Of course, I could just be thinking of one of the TL threads on here. The TL sills were anywhere from $140-$200 depending on the seller. They had some not so clean sills that went over the oem sills. And the ones I linked to at the top of this thread are the full on expensive replacement sills that look absolutely oem. They're still selling the red ones over in the TL forum.

Yeah, if somebody made some nice ones and they looked like the ones in the pictures in the first post, I'd probably get 'em. Provided they were priced decently.

To appeal to the the mass TSX market segment they should be

1) Affordable $250-$299

2) Easily Installed

3) Reliable, meaning the wiring will not flake out in month or 2 but should last a very long time.

I already emailed forum member Supercomputers, who sells the illuminated sills for the TL's here in the black market, but it's a no go for him. He says "The tooling was just to expensive. We wont be able to do it at this time."

Maybe if we send him a couple PM's saying that we'd be willing to pay a premium for them?

As far as I know, no one has ever made these for the tsx. And unfortunately, that may stay the case for an indefinite period. I have not seen any illuminated sills on ebay or any of the forums. I'm pretty sure no one makes them. Good luck in your search! Report back if you hear anything

I'm really liking these - would look great with my blue interior lighting. I bet development costs and low-volume sales are killing it.

I have looked and looked and looked and can't find these for the TSX anywhere. I called all the metal shops and fabricators in town and nobody has a clue how to do something so simple.

I took it on myself to try a DIY illuminated door sill using my door sills and a dremel. Wish me luck.

For those of you who are curious, these sills illuminated sills have never been produced by a vendor for the tsx. There are members here on the forum that have created their own versions. Hopefully, a generous forum member will do a small group sale or DIy for us do-it-yourselfers.

Glow-in-the-dark vs. illuminated. I think I'll go with illuminated instead
