Angry If it wasn't for bad luck......

I'd have no luck at all!
As some of you can remember i have been plagued with problems with my TSX for as long as i have had it, whether it be vandalism, minor accidents or whatever. Well here goes another incident in the saga of my TSX

About a month and a half ago i was in a minor fender bender and it took about 2 weeks to get my car fixed back to normal. Finally it was back to the way i loved it, clean, on rims, life was good. Then this weekend from hell happened. I was on my way home from a friends house to showre and change and get ready to go out. Of course it was a torrential downpour when i left, so as i was driving i hit a 4 inch deep puddle on a road with no shoulder. I began to hydro plane, and before the VSA kicked in, the TSX was up over the curbing and i was sliding sideways. THe car finally came to a stop about 10-15 off the road into some heavy brush. I got out real quick to make sure that the car was still drivable (no flats, wheels were facing the same direction etc) i quickly threw the car in reverse and managed to get out of the brush with little to no problem. So I then drove the rest of the way home frustrated and shakey from the incident.

When i got out of the car i did a better inspection of the damage. UGH! The front bumper and lip are cracked, the bumper is hanging out passed the fenders on both sides! The left head lamp is cracked, the fender dented, a HUGE scrape running down the entire left side of the vehicle, finishing off with a large dent from where the car came to rest against a log (of course it was right in the same exact spot that i just had replaced)

I am sad to say that i think my TSX is jinxed. Although i have not had any of the other issues (knock on wood) that seem to be standard with the 04. I can't seem to win any other time. This sucks

Sorry no pics, i can barely stand to look at it, let alone take pics. Tomorow the insurance agent comes to assess the damage... hopefully it won't be off the road too much longer. UGH so depressing, just had to vent

Just be lucky you have your life dude, after I totalled my civic back in February because I hydroplaned, and crashed into a center divide and then bounced and hit the wall on the other side of this narrow construction ridden highway. I came out without a scratch. The car can always be fixed or replaced. Your life can't, so consider yourself lucky...

Yeah i totally agree, thank God, that I wasn't hurt, and that no one else was involved! I don't know what God is telling me, do I need to go back to a 4x4 (probably telling me to slow the F down!) If i wasn't locked into my lease I would seriously think about selling it or trading it in, but i dont know what i would get...... I just wish i could go 8 months without an incident!

Sound like you need to trade it in for a Volvo.

Better yet, get an old Volvo that was made with real metal that can take the beating!

I dont live in an area where it rains much, but doncha think doing 60 in a "torrential downpour" is kinda dumb?

Might want to buy a helmet with that Volvo

or a bumper-car.

anyway, that really sucks and sorry to hear. but it could've been worse given the weather/road conditions and the speed you were going.

Yeah i should not have been in such a big hurry, i guess it was just being stupid. Today at 11 i have to go meet with my insurance company (Geico) about getting it repaired. I have never gone through insurance before so i hope it goes well. Wish me luck

Sounds like you need to learn how to drive. Did you ever stop to think that all of this stuff happens to you because you drive like a female. Wake up! I dont mind you wrecking your own $hlt, but I fear for other people on the road with you. You drive like an idiot (60 in a down pour) and you blame your crash on bad luck. Slow down or stay off the roads before you kill some of our loved ones.

on unfamiliar roads, under those conditions, it would indeed be better to go slower than 60mph... or make sure you can spot such deep standing water well ahead and be able to slow down BEFORE hitting it.

I am used to downpour out here, and there are scratches of highway that I travel daily that always collect water on the shoulder during/after downpour... to make a worse, it's the left-hand ("FAST") lane that does that. So I try to stay away from that lane under those conditions or go through there nice and "slow" (like 60KM/h = ~38mph) and be well prepared to correct the steering.

I don't know what happened in your previous incidents, but to have quite many bad incidents with your TSX, it is sad nonetheless. Take care!

yes perhapps it was a bit harsh. Let me widdle away the nastiness and just cut to my point. I'm just saying if you drive aggressive in those conditions you can hardly call it bad luck.

If a motorcycle flips over backward while doing a wheelie its not bad luck. Likewise if a guy crashes while doing 60mph in a down pour its not bad luck. Some where driving skill and stupidity have to come into the equation. Its not all luck. You see what I am saying?

Sounds like you need to have your car blessed! I was thinkin of getting mine blessed. I had some bad luck with new cars in the past, but it went away after a bit. I've had my TSX almost 2 months now and have a list a list of crap that has happened.

1. < 48hrs had a door scratch from denny's prking lot.
2 < a week chipped windshield from a rock.
3. < 1 1/2 months dent in trunk from garage door.
4. Curbed new rim last Friday....and I wasn't even suppose to be in Seattle.
5. 30 rock chips on hood and bumper from sorry WA roads.

There might be more, but right now my mind may be subconsciously supressing the memory so my it stays in a "happy place."

Anyone know a good priest in the Seattle area?

Oh yeah, and I got bombed by a flock of seagulls the first week. Oh yeah, and I spilled my grande mocha all over the inside of my door/window/outside door/leather and seat, the first week.

I'm gonna go over to uncles house and grab a chicken and wave it over the top of the car in a circular motion this weekend.

Good luck man

Actually I have developed a very stupid superstitious practice over the years with all my cars... I've never taken any picture of my cars with me in the pictures!! At first it wasn't done on purpose, I just never felt like being in pictures with my car... then some ex-coworker told me her bad luck after being in pictures with her car. Since then, I've made it a concious decision to NOT be in any picture with my car.

But when my friend brought home his workplace's (Honda dealer) S2000 when it was first launched, I couldn't resist but to get in some pictures along side it... then went for a drive, nothing bad happened except it left a deep impression in my mind that one day I will get myself a S2000... is that bad?!?

Damn, i was just trying to tell peole about what happened and i already admitted that i was at fault and that I made the mistake. Its not that i didnt know the road, I have driven it before. I am sure that everyone that reads this post is a perfectly law abiding citizen that never drives above the speed limit (by the way the road i was on was a parkway rated for 55) so needless to say i wasn't flying. I wasn't even passing other traffic, i was just going with the flow. Oh, and its not that i lack driving skills, i just lacked judgment at that moment in time. I am no Mike Schumacher but I can hold my own. I wasn't showing off like an asshole riding a bike, i was just trying to get home. I just hope i see Waad driving in NY one day, we'll see what a perfect driver he is. I didn't come looking for a fight from anyone or for any sympathy, I was trying to educate people from my stupidity. If you dont like it, sucks for you
