Would you own a TSX if it wasnt a TSX in the US and Acura didnt exist and it was sold here as the Euro Accord?

It's a good car. I think I would have bought it as a Honda. I've owned so many Honda family products that even if they hadn't brought the TSX, I probably would have gotten a Honda product.

If I drove the car everyday, that thing would be straight J-spec baby!!!! For now it lives as a daily driver for my wife, but one day the TSX will be Euro R spec...when I can afford a Denali for my wife!

gfxdave99, are you asking "If the TSX didn't have the Acura nameplate on it, but a Honda nameplate, would we still buy it?" I don't think very many people on this site are that pretentious.

My problem is that I won't buy it BECAUSE of the Acura nameplate...I wish to god it was sold as a Honda, because the nearest Acura dealership for me is a 3 hour drive away. I can get basic service at the Honda dealership here in town, but anything more complicated than basic service (i.e. warranty) will require me to take a day off work to get it addressed. Some might that's negative thinking for me to assume I will have warranty problems. But, I have yet to come across a new car owner in this day and age who hasn't been back for something.

Unforturnately, unless I can convince Acura Canada to allow me to get warranty work done at my local Honda dealership (Honda is a little stuck up about mixing the two names), no TSX for me.

I would have preffered a Honda TSX, sans leather, sunroof, 360 Watt, Stereo etc. All I want are the looks, 17' rims, AC and the Rear dimming mirror which I now can't live without.

I would have bought this vehicle regardless of its name.
Love the styling, handling, and the size is just right.

I bought it for the car, not the funny caliper logo.

Acura still doesn't get the luxury thing. Not so much the cars but the ownership experience. Lexus makes their customers FEEL important even though they're driving tarted up Toyotas.

For me, I don't need or want any ass-kissing. Since MY tarted up econobox is still Honda quality, I won't need to deal with the dealership that much anyway.

BTW, I think the TSX and TL are the first cars that TRULY differentiate Acura as different and more ritzy than its sister. The new RL looks like it will too.

I think selling it as the Accord would have made it a lot better...There would have been an optional V-6!

We don't know this for fact but Acura has repeaedley stated that a V6 will not fit in the TSX.

If it did, I seriously doubt they would have left it out as an option in North America.

I bought it because of styling....I could careless about the name. Even if it was the USDM Accord I'd by it cuz it looks cool. Unfortunately, the USDM Accord ain't pretty, so I got the TSX.

i couldent agree with this more!! you hit the nail wright on the head here man!!

i voted for #1.

also, the lex-o thing.....my mom has a gs-430 and my dad used to have a rx-300 suv when they fisrt came out......and whenever they go/have gone for service, they are treated like royalty!!!! its crazy-ness how well they are treated!

once, my dad took my moms 430 in and they gave hime a POS loaner car, so he complained about it. all in all, he ended up getting an escalade for 3 days!! it was dope!!

also, my uncle has TONS of money and owns a 96 nsx and a 04 760il bmw......when he takes the bimmer in, they role out the red carpet for him! bmw dealers have little cafe's inside the dealership, where half a sandwich is like 8 bucks......i went with him once to the dealer, and they comped our lunch, it was like $50 for 2 people plus gave him a brand new, 0 miles, 745il to drive around for the day.

its nuts what "real" luxury dealers will do for thier customers!

The local Infiniti dealer is the same. They treat their customers like VIPs. They service your car and you get a loaner car for a day or two. I really miss this experience and my old Infiniti.

My Acura service experience has been marginal to poor. I don't get a loaner car and end up having to wait 2-3 hours for my TSX. They do have a courtesy shuttle, but I prefer not to take that.

i always got a loaner car from acura, it was useually a tsx, auto w/ no navi.

once i got an rsx, and i was pissed. i took it off road in the dessert!! ran over a cactus, and had put the donut tire on......when i got back to the dealer, they were a little upset.
also, another time, i had a tsx loaner, and e-brake-turned into the dealership. hahaha, they also got a lil' mad at that, but my g/f and buddy were laughing thier ass's off. my maintence guy came out, and was laughing but his manager came running out and was pissed....i blamed it on the 04 tl behind me, and the mgr bought it.

hahahaha

i got more rental story's, if ya'll wana hear them.

Now ask MB C-class owners if they would have bought their car it was called a 'Chrysler Cumulus' or something. I bet not many would.

MB/BMW/Lexus attract pretentious people, Acura attracts people that judge others on merit, not socioeconomic class.

Infiniti? I dunno, they attract ricers who win the lottery

For me the Acura name had a lot to do with it. Well, not so much the Acura name as the Aucra dealership.

I specifically did not want to deal with the Honda dealers in my area after having lack-luster experiences with them. While I think the Acura dealers could use a little help, they don't make me want to pry the badge off my car everytime I have to go in... and that's a plus.

Truth is, I love Honda's and I love Acura's. The TSX was EXACTLY the right car for me... but if it had been at the local Honda dealer, I may not have even gone in for a test drive to find out that it was perfect. So I might have missed out.

All hail the Silver Tweasers of Power!! to the Acura logo.

I looked at the accord coupe and was kind of treated like a cattle whereas I was treated with importance and respect by everybody at the Acura dealer I went to.

Ask just about any scrawny asian college kid what car he would buy if he fell into $40k of free money, he will probably tell you a G35 Coupe. Assuming he already has an STi.

If the ACURA TSX didn't exist, I'd be driving whatever 2004 Honda Accord existed in this theoretical Acuraless world. The Accord sedan was my first choice until the TSX came along. But the premium I paid for the Acura features/looks and, to a lesser extent, name/reputation/prestige/service, was well worth it to me, even if some might argue it's a waste.

It maybe would've been better as the US 7th gen Accord so that we wouldn't have to see that ugly present Accord/Inspire sedan on the US streets. a lot more Accords with the nice Euro shape would be the common new Accord seen on the street. We would share the same Accord that Europeans drive.

Honda also could've made an RSX 4 dr with that RSX shape, i mean they did it with the Integra 2-dr and made it into a 4 dr.

Here is my idea:
Honda needs to make an Accord type-(something) that is basically a TSX. It could have the accord interior (I like it better), could run on regular, and still have the HID's for maybe 23-25K. That would be sweeeet!

then why make the TSX then if they did that?

the point of the TSX is to be in the entry level luxury nameplate car for less than $30K.
