I put wrong oil weight in car-Problem?

I inadvertently put the 5-20 instead of 5-30 in my o6 tsx. Is this going to be a problem or should I take it out now. BTW I am using mobil 1

the "20" in the oil's weight is responsible for Hot weather, high speed lubrication/protection. I would not take the chance.

Does your oil filler cap say 5w/30 or 5w/20?

Most Acuras use 5w20 except the RSX-S and the TSX. However, we are spec'd for 5w30, but I'm running 0w30. Michael Wan, the oil guru, is running 5w20 and has done a used oil analysis with it, and it's perfectly fine to use.

I'd say you're OK to use it as long as it had the API "starburst" on the container, and was created for gasoline engines. (SL or SM designations)

Is going to be OK, but ur oil might burn a litle quicker. U might need to refill abit before your next oil change is due.

Most of us need a refill. I've yet to make 5000 miles without missing a quart.

You know, you're allowed to shift before you hit redline.

Thanks for the help fellows. I am sure I would be alright, but I am going to play it safe and change it out. If it were fall or winter I would not worry one bit, but its still a ltttle hot here so I would rather have a little extra protection. I called moil 1 about this and they said it would probably be OK, but they would advise I put the recommended weight in. So........

Don't waste your time and $$ draining that stuff out -- you'll be fine.

PM "Michael Wan" to get his used oil analysis results using 5w20 and you'll see that its just as good or better than 5w30.

When i tried to used Mobil 1 5-30w on the Euro R, i filled twice (Low indication on dip stick) between my 5000 km interval oil change. I switched back to Red line 10 40W, and i never needed refilled again between oil change interval. I really think that red line is a pretty good oil, cause the car runs quieter, smother and rev quicker. Might give it a try.

I'm paranoid about my car and even I would leave it alone, 5w20 is fine.
