NEW 06 - 07 TSX can use the music link. Erlier 06 (vin 6c034 and lower) need a XM unit replacement cause you will hear both when you start the car or when you in stall a accessory audio unit. Sorry 04 - 05 will-not work.

Yes, he's right, and there is a TSB for the early 06s to have the receiver replaced for free. I had this done to get my usa spec unit to work properly. I still like how people are blindly willing to pay $220-$300 for musiclink when there are 3 good other alternatives, some with more features, for much less money.
All this info and much more in the A/V section.

I have musiclink on my 05 TSX. So it will work on the 2005 TSX. I'm sure it works on the 04 TSX too but I can't comfirm that.
I only paid $169 for the musiclink from Hondacuraworld.com about a year or so when it came out. It was the only thing then that allowed me to keep XM and have my ipod (with the Y cable sold seperately). I don't know if the aftermarket section caught up to allowing you to keep XM.

TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin... aka "Recall".
I talked to vthree over PM, but I'll post this here FWIW. I can't find the damn TSB number online, and I've lost my work receipt for it, so I'm not 100% sure I've got the right number here. Someone please correct me if they know it (or confirm it).
TSB 06-032 XM and MusicLink play at the same time
Dealer will replace your XM receiver module (a small box hidden in your trunk) free of charge. The service takes about 1 hour. Note: you will be getting a new XM radio ID, and therefore losing any subscription tied to your old radio. As far as I know, this applies to certain 06 models only. I have a early 06.
This does fix the problems of XM and MusicLink (or USA SPEC!) playing at the same time. Even though my car was not in the 'allowed' VIN range on this TSB, and I had a USA SPEC and not a MusicLink, my dealer was nice enough to go ahead with this service for me. It fixed all my problems of hearing both sources concurrently at car startup and when pluggin the iPod in the first time. I believe I was the first car my dealer had done this one on and the service advisor was as curious as well to see if this fix works. Well, it did for me.

Does anybody have a copy of this TSB they can post? So if I go ahead and do this, I will lose my current subscription to tied to my XM radio ID and have to purchase another?

I feel like a fool now, but here it is:
If you call XM yourself and ask, they will switch your subscription to your new radio ID. After over a month without service, I finally just called and got a representative, and found out this was easier than I ever thought. No more arguing with the dealer and trying to make them do it or buy me another subscription, they can transfer the remaining balance of your old subscription to your new radio.
If you are already signed up from XM online through your old radio ID, you can do it there too.
on me, hope this helps some of you.

Remember you will lose your current XM subscription.

If that's the case, I won't have mine fixed until far in the future when I get around to getting an ipod...unless if I can get my pda to do it lol

Thanks for the info!!
Got the music link installed this weekend at Al & Eds autosound here in CA. I was hearing XM when playing my wicked pod so I brought it back to them last night. Al & Ed's told me what you guys were saying about the recal. I have to say I didn't really believe them...thought they were just trying to get me to let it go. LOL
Thanks for the info...especially the SERVICE BULLENTIN, now the dealer CAN'T deny it! LOL I come prepared with ammo!!! :gheywave:

Took it in a week ago, told them about the TSB, asked if they had the parts -- they said yes, of course. Droped it off, gave them a copy of the TSB (printed it off and I gave them my copy, so I can't post it -- sorry) and hour and 1/2 of waiting later ... do they have the XM receiver? No.
As a consequence, I had to go back in this weekend. They had me in and out in 30 minutes and did a nice job detailing the car for my trouble. The service is a snap, and no more XM bleed! Again, thanks for the info!

I didn't think the music link was supposed to be that great even when it does work properly. I almost purchased one to have it installed on my '05 but then read how it actually works. You can't choose the specific song that you want to listen to? You can only make a play list of whatever songs and then shuffle through them? Is that how it works?
