So, take the rattle complaints with a grain of salt. Some people are VERY sensitive to the most barely detectable squeak, and will sound off here about it.

Why not just test-drive the car before you buy it?

Sooooo wrong!

Sold the wife's Durango which had 75K mi. with NO rattles!

Have a 7K lb. diesel truck with NO rattles. Both rigs have been on nasty Forrest service, dirt and chuck hole ridden roads. NO rattles!

Regaurdless what most may think, they should NOT rattle.

I posted this in another unrelated thread about a month ago.

Which reminds me, I fixed a rattle I had two nights ago, all by myself

I had this annoying rattle somewhere in the car since it got cold. I could never really determine where is was coming from though and it wasn't happening all the time either. So I finally decide to tackle the problem and start feeling around. I find that its coming from the dash, the area just above the gauges in between the clock and the hump above the gauges. Everytie I pressed in that area the rattle stopped.

So I just banged the crap out it with a closed fist a few times and rattle was gone. I guess the banging moved the plastic around enough to stop it from jumping.

Sometimes a good punch it all it takes.

My 0.02 would be that many things I doubt I could fix, but the rattles I had, I fixed when I did my speakers - fixed a broken plastic weld in my passenger door, and put in some Cascade Audio Vibra-Bloc. Door rattles haven't been an issue since - 6 months ago. Still wonder how many rattles are due to a bad plastic weld in the door...

I'm thinking of opening up my passenger door up to fix the rattle myself!! Do you think its a good idea. I dont think I trust the dealer: They took my radio out and chipped the side.

I posted a thread in AV on how to pull the F door, and there are photos of the broken plastic weld... it used to be a sticky but no more, but if you look at threads I have started you can look at the pics. I'm sure you can do it if you have tools...

I also have the windshield/dashboard rattle. It's been quite annoying lately with all of the dry and cool weather up in the NW. I've checked with the service Dept. at Acura of Bellevue and they don't really acknowledge the problem. I don't want them hunting for a fix.

Cool Rattles

There are some of you, that have expressed a concern about rattles coming from the driver's and passenger doors. I purchased my 2005 Acura TSX with Navigation about a month ago. Of course the radio was blasting from the moment I left the dealership and did not notice the rattles until the 2nd or 3rd day of driving it. I brought it back to the dealer and of course all the streets were flat and flawless and no rattles were heard.

After careful troubleshooting and listening carefully, I was able to pinpoint the rattles from both doors, which only happpens of rough pavement or bumps. Behind the inside door handle there is a piece of plastic that clips inside to hide the screws behind it, when I tapped this piece of plastic it duplicated the same noise I heard while driving. I then drove my car and held the piece of plastic with my finger, and behold the noise was non-existent. Finally as a last precaution, I removed both pieces of plasic, one from each door, and drove the car once again. Again, no rattles were heard.

Obviosuly, this is an annoyance, however I am relieved that it is not something more serious or something that cannot be located. I am sure I can find away to leave these pieces of plastic in and mute the noise from it.

I hope this may help some of you out there, and relieve many of you that are banging your heads trying to figure this out.

TSX 6spd 1200 miles and no rattles.

Besides, if you do a search about rattles you will find that most all of them were fixed by the dealer eventually. They all seem to be rather simple fixes as well.

Rattle....

I have had my car almost a year and I only had one problem with rattling. My windshield would rattle whenever i went over a bump whether it was hot or cold. So I brought it to the dealer and they replaced my windshield. They said they had quite a few with the same problem and they wanted to see if that would fix it. And it did! So they went ahead and replaced the windshield on about 10 of them. Besides that my car is rattle free!!!!

I've had my CG 6MT TSX since August and have yet to have any persistent rattles or annoyances. I've also been through extremely hot and cold weather, and everything in between.

Had the dash rattle. Now gone, after playing with cowl.

Had seat shift (only on left turns). Now gone-dealer fixed on 2nd try.

Have various rattles from what seems like B-pillars or C-pillars and/or rear deck. Worse with some bass notes and rough roads. Turning up the stereo volume helps.

Tint on pass side has one slight scratch (no felt).

What sounds like a faint alternator whine, but the loaner I had was worse, so I live with it. It's not very noticeable.

Other than that, no problems. Runs great, shifts smooth (AT), better than many V6's, gets good mileage, C&D Top 10 twice, looks awesome, and is a better value than anything out there.

My advice is to test drive it a long time on a road with rough asphalt (not just potholes) and the stereo off. If the winshield creaks on the potholes, or something buzzes/rattles on the asphalt, try another TSX. Also, on cold days, everything will be magnified, so listen closely.

Also try some bass-heavy music with the car stopped and sit in all seating locations. SOme buzzes that rear pass can hear are unnoticed by the driver.

We're rattle-free so far, after 2 1/2 weeks and 1300 miles, including some bumpy Iowa backroads last weekend. Acuras are well-built cars, and shouldn't rattle. I should think if you take an extended test drive over some rough roads in the car you'd actually buy, you'd have a pretty good idea about whether or not it's going to rattle.

I've owned the car for 7 months now, 12000 km, and I've had rattles for maybe 3 days out of this whole time. The first time it was driving on the bumpy roads in my area, it was pretty slight but noticeable. I scheduled the service and of course by that time they went away. They may have come back on and off one or two days.

One day I got them when I was when driving on a long ride on the highway, it was really noticable and annoying. But it went away the next day and hasn't come back since.

The roads are really bumpy around here so I hear a squeak now and then, but overall I can't complain. I don't regret buying the car at all, least of all because of very rare noises.

Cured the dashRattle the Wife's TSX. Was coming fron the lower face plate area just below the CD insert where the silver trim meets the black trim. I noticed when it did rattle if I pushed "in" the face plate with a little to moderate force it would stop. Turned out to be a piece of plastic would rub on the radio mount housing. They trimed and debured the plastic. No mor rattle. We have Navi so I was wondering if it was more prevelent with TSX with Navi

my windshield rattle is becoming more apparent (cold weather a factor here). also, at times, i can hear my center stack and the seat belt (b-pillar?) area rattle too.

i've read up on most threads regarding these rattles. it's just a matter of time before i begin to fix it myself...
