I miss my 9K redline

Finally, I got to push the car hard today. Pushed it a little too hard. The car hit rev limiter at about 7500. the result wasn't as dramatic as it was when I had my s2k. Anyways, I'm missing the 9k redline on my s2k already

I'd love to have a lower rev limiter and a broader powerband. I come from a turbodiesel and turbo-gas background, so I'm used to maximum torque from 2000RPM to redline coupled with a muted engine sound.

It is taking me a while to get used to this whole rev-the-nuts-out-of-the-engine deal. Fortunately the TSX has enough low-end grunt that normal daily driving is pretty effortless.

Destroke it to 2.3L, do some headwork, add KPRO, and you'll be back at 9000rpm in no time.

I have a higher redline now...but I miss the thrust my LS1 brought. Its ok, I DID know what I was getting into w/ this car and I'm still happy w/ the purchase.

My recent dyno said we already have near maximum torque from about 2k to redline It's just that redline is high, and torque is lower than you get from big engines, turbos, or diesels:

2000rpm = 119lb-ft (86%)
2300rpm = 124lb-ft (90%)
4850rpm = 138lb-ft (max)
6000rpm = 123lb-ft (89%), then high cam kicks in and
6300rpm = 135lb-ft (98%)
7000rpm = 136lb-ft (98%)

Exactly, and percentages are skewed a bit when working with small numbers. Even with that, 20 lbs-ft at the wheels is hard to miss. Just imagine if the scale was moved up.

The factory torque curve though looks reasonably flat for quite a range in the middle RPM band (as your dyno results illustrate). That is one of the reasons I chose this car over some other 4-cylinder contenders.

I'd lose my license if I had a 6MT TL. The TSX works for the family, and if I want to go fast I can: a perfect blend. I know who I am.
