i have a gear question
i have a gear question
hey guys i have a 2008 5AT, yesterday when i was on the "so called one way highway", i tried to pass someone and i was going like 70 mph.....i supposed to shift from 5th to 3rd (in Sport Shift Mode).....but i shift to 2nd by mistake......and then i saw the "2" on the dashboard blinking.....and it shift back to 3rd automatically......
the question is ....did i mess up the transmission by any chance?
if so, how?
thanks guys for all your help

I should be more informative. Most modern slush boxes with manumatic modes are programed to shift up at redline and won't let you downshift into a gear at speed which the engine speed will exceed redline. So your TSX wouldn't let you downshift into 2nd from 4th/5th at 70+mph
Another thing that you would know the answer if you RTFM
It explains that if downshifting would put the RPMS over the redline, the number flashes on the gear indicator and the car doesn't downshift and damage the engine/tranny.

It's happened to me before.
It sucks sometimes when you are just over the point where you can't downshift another gear (generally to 2nd), cause you stay in that higher gear at a significantly lower RPM and then you try to pass and all I think is OH SH!T. lol
