I Have Found the Speed Governor
232kph (145mph) is where it's at.
No big deal anyway, it really is a stretch getting there. one really needs ideal driving conditions for it. (relatively cool weather, low air density, dry air)
Anyways, before anyone complains, I was doing it on a deserted highway with no traffic, in ideal conditions, so I'll have none of your recriminations thank you.

nice job sauce,
sweet, what temperatures were you running at? I ran at 16oC and got up to 210kph. I have a 5AT, I felt the car stop pulling in 4th gear. The car still pulled a bit in 3rd, even at redline at about 170kph. but then i hit the brakes slightly cuz there was a gentle curb ahead, the brakes felt shaky all the way down to 80kph, with just a little pressure on the pedal

Tires vibrated between 170 and 200kph, then back to normal.

I've hit the speed governer pretty easy because I was drafting my buddy in his SRT-4. It hit hard too because the car was pulling pretty decent with barely any air to push. The car was in 6th gear with VTEC screaming. I did this top speed run with my Pilot Sport PS2 tires....I would have never tried that with the factory tires though.

Its about 152 on my '03 CL-S.
I've done it about a dozen times in 6th & 5th gear. Quite scary actually @ that speed .... none the less, I had to see if it was a cut-off in 6th so I'd go back to 5th & it would cut off w/a 1000rpm left in 5th...
Bummer actually.

Funny that on my EuroAccord with CL7A it cuts off higher (245kph=153mph). Driving through Germany a lot I hit 230kph easlily (my normal max straight line speed). Going on a slight declined piece I hit the cutoff point around 245kmh several times. Is the EuroAccord a biut lighter (lex luxury ??) than the TSX or something???

Usually the speed governor is in relation with the stock tires. Which is why I was surprised to see it at 232kph (could well be 230). At that speed I was doing 6050rpm (estimated), Just in the full lift range. The Euro-r could have shorter gears which allows it to rev just that much higher so it meets it's top hp with top speed.

BTW, noticed your location description changed again.

In most all Honda and Acura's the weak point in their handling is the tires. The only Honda's that come with good/decent tires are the NSX and the S2000. There's a reason why higher end cars come with Pilot Sports or Contisport 2's or of the like.

I hope you realize you just voided all warranty work on your engine, transmission and most other parts. If you should have any engine or transmission failure now the computer will show how fast you were going and nothing will be covered.

If the car wasn't made to be driven at this speed, the governor would have been set to a lower speed IMHO.
I brought my car to the dealer because of big wind noise around 100 mph... They said they couldn't go test drive the car at this speed but they tried fixing the problem. They never mentionned anything about voiding the warranty.

Compare that to 130 mph in VW's sold in America, and even lower speeds in some American brand models. Most trucks have very low top speeds.

I have also found the Speed Governor. He is Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico. See either http://www.officer.com/article/artic...ion=1&id=24306 or this one: http://www.freenewmexican.com/news/29290.html. Of course, myself having *never* espeeded once ...

You are wrong. If the car was not designed to hit 145mph,
Ok, don't believe me............ next time your at a dealership go in and ask the service manager what would happen if your car engine blew and they (dealership) checked the computer (which they WILL DO) and found out you'd driven the car at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
I've worked at several different car dealerships, everything from Ford to Jaquar's, and know it's a fact that the car's computer is always checked when major warranty work is needed.
Take a look at your warranty book..... I'm sure it says "under normal operating conditons" and "not due to owners fault". Driving a car 140 mph will definitely void any and all warranty issues, even with a high speed vehicle such as a Porsche of Ferrari.
My last 2 cents on this issue.

Also, mansauce hasn't had a warranty for a while, ask him how many miles are on his car...
