I Hate NY Roads!!!!

I was just driving on the Clearview Expressway in the rain and didnt see this Canyon of a hole that was just put there due to a recent construction plan and blew out both my driver side front and rear tires.. one bent lip and rim.. (insert censored word here.. here.. and here.. and then some more here)

Demos mad as hell and smoked a whole pack.. now I have to go get two new tires and fix a rim.. not to mention the tow job to the shop... AHHHHHH!!!!

That sucks. We have a few POS roads around here too that have needed repaving for a couple years now. They just keep filling the holes and then they come back even worse a few weeks later. There's one road I regularly travel that I would barely call paved anymore. Stupid town needs to fix it ASAP.

Rex feels the same way. Rex almost blew out a lung because of a puddle covered crater.

Z too... happened today when going to circuit city... stinkin' broken road... it was like taking a huge fall! my car just dipped into this canyon and Z scrapped the bottom of his bumper! What's worse was that a little part popped out too under the driverside headlights!...popped it back in very carefully though...

Err... too late to edit.. that incident didn't happen to me in NY haha..

What did happen to me in NYC before though was I got carsick from going slow (traffic jam) and bumpy ride (potholes) during my driving trip from Brooklyn to Queens.

Brooklyn's 3rd/5th ave road = FAIL

Yea I hate NYC roads...

My impression regarding NYC roads are this: narrow and windy and bumpy plus drivers in NYC are among the most impatient in the world! I'm travelling in bumper to bumper traffic and some idiot behind me was honking at me. What the f did he want me to do? Plow through the cars in front of me?!

OOoooh, I hate the clearview. I had a bad expeirence on the BQE. Yeah, it takes 4ever to fix NYC roads. checkout hondaclub as I posted a number for a guy out in NJ that fixes rims. I forget the info. He quoted to fix my 07 accord rims. not too bad either compared to what I've heard. Now if the rim is bent it's a bit pricier but he's straight up and reasonable.

clearview is pretty bad. so many random rocks and holes. i'm pretty sure some random rock flew from the highway and chipped/cracked my winshield when i was driving on it one day, b/c there were no cars in front of me.

Well I called around and finally found a guy.. Al's Hubcaps on Jerico Tpke in Miniola and he was straight up and was very knowledgeable on my Volks. he gets alot of them in and states that they are great wheels dollar for dollar and pretty workable when they have to be fixed. He took them apart right there in front of me and was gentle as ever. I should be getting them back by Wednesday.. prices are fair.. depending on the size of the wheel and what has to be done. they range from $65 for a 16" to $115 for a 24" for just lip work and $110 -16" to $175 -24" full restoration and refinish..

The only other guy was a mobile guy from Island Park and he was charging out the ass and doesnt know jack shit about volks.. his statement when I told him that I had 19" volks was... ready...wait for it.... "what year is the volkswagon?"

here's looking forward to Wednesday

Been there. Get in touch with the city comptroller's office and file a claim:

http://www.comptroller.nyc.gov/

Used to be that they'd pay out as long as you aren't the first one to report the pothole... once they've been notified they're supposed to fix it.

Good luck.

Yeah.. I work for the city.. that isnt going to help me.. I got the insurance to take care of it.. I reported the crater with 311 but it is ongoing construction so that wont help..

Thanks for the info though.

Really? A huge hole in a public road disabled and damaged a car, and the city's not liable? I'd talk long and hard with my ins. company and find out if they can recover. I'd be smoking hot mad if a roadway here actually blew out my tires and damaged components. I certainly don't think that i should pay higher rates for my ins. if i file a claim to fix something that an eff'ed-up road inflicts.

You think you guys have bad roads? When I travel to the states I praise the roads. Once you cross the border to Canada, especially on the Quebec side. The pavement stops and you are driving offroad!!!! I mean the road is terrible! Thank god I had a cheap car before. I was driving around 40mph and got in a big big pothole. It bend my steel rim, made a huge bump on my tire and cracked the plastic cap. I wonder if you can make the city pay for the damages. I pay the damn taxes and I drive with terrible roads. How does that make any sense?????
