that TL plan won't work, its not fully paid off and my dad doesn't want to have to make payments on a 06 TSX, my 04 is completely paid off with nav, and a little 12k off MSRP once said and done

Is he making payments on the TL? They would be more than a 06 TSX most likely. Sell the TL, pay it off, use difference on TSX (assuming your not extremely upside down). He's gonna have to pay off the TL if he trades it for the tahoe anyway. The main thing is getting rid of that salvaged 04, especially for that price.

Why is this even a question for your dad? If he found some schmuck that will buy a salvage car for $22K he should dump it and not worry about what his 16yo kid thinks...

Be thankful that you have this option.

I must be mistaken about what is the "big dilemma". You are making a easy and quick $10k of pure profit from the salvage car you just bought. So, wouldn't the dilemma be should you try your luck again and invest the $10k you are going to make on another salvage TSX.

Is there any type of summer job out there that is better than the "deal" you described in this thread ?

Oh, and is your dad going to get a salvage Tahoe, and then fix it up to the "new" condition? You should really convince you dad. It seems to work well.

And now, finally, I understand your "big dilemma". You are afraid the new TL is not as safe as the salvaged TSX, because of the stronger manual wielding that was done in the salvaged car. No wonder you would say you worried about too much power in the TL. Got you.

I don't know where you live and what auto insurance you have but some places won't even insure salvage autos.

Can u do the math?? do u even know why guys insurance is higher? And I took my car to a certified Acura dealership and they did an inspection and said everthing was perfectly fine with my car.

The way I look at your situation is, your father has an oppotunity to make $10k, and he is letting you decided should he seize the oppotunity. You a very lucky person.

Oh how I wish I had this "Huge Dilemma". If you have a sucker on the line to buy your salvage title TSX for $22K take his offer and

Even if the TL wasn't worth it, the fact you'll have less problems in the long run with a non-salvage car will be.

I've got one question. whats up with you guys and Salvage cars? Have anyone u had personal problems with them. I don't see why if a body ship guy can get everything back to stock it won't be just the same as a used car? The guy is taking alittle longer and getting EVERTYHING back to stock condition. and its only gonna be 2k to get that done. He said it would run and have the same potential problems as a used car. He's doing great work, so there isn't going to be significant problems in the long run. I mean u see people with old refurbished corvettes driving them around and they have no probls. I can't tell u how many rebuild vettes this guy has on this lot, and they look extremely good.

How do you know they have no problems? If they can rebuild a vette, they can fix most any problem they have, and most usually find pride and joy in fixing those problems. Do you have that kind of knowledge and passion for your salvaged cars?

But maybe that's just my perception. Maybe there's a ton of people who know jack about fixing cars and buy restored classic cars as their daily drivers.

true some people who buy those vettes fix them up themselves, but my dad knows about 4 or 5 people who just buy the cars, and then send them to a body shop to be refurbished. One of his friends has a 67 vette refurbished, does routine matinence and doens't have any probs with it.

Well when the owner of the auto body shop tells you "Whatever you do, don't buy your car back." to you after it's been "totaled" by the insurance company that's something to consider. Even though when they totalled it out, it only had 30K miles on it and I was the only owner so I knew the car that had been well taken of, and how bad the accident had been. <Sandwiched between two SUV's - not 1 of the six air bags deployed. And the damned Lincoln Navigator that rear ended me at 50mph had to be towed as well. She was too busy argueing with her kids to notice that everyone else was at a complete stop.>

In your case, you may have the best luck in the world and never experience a day of trouble with your car. But if you could have sold it $25k or whatever it was, you would have been much better off.
