How to view clock w/out power?

Anybody know how to see the time on the clock when the car is not on? In older Honda/Acuras you would tap the plastic cover over the adjustment for minutes and hours, and the clock would power up. Thanks.

That's a long lost Honda feature. I've never found a way to check time like that since my dad's '83 Accord, which lit up the clock when you pressed the cover over the clock setting buttons, as you described. One advantage of analog over digital, I suppose.

My first car the 88 Accord had it, pretty neat feature. I'm not sure if my 99 Accord had that though, never thought of checking it.

To get the clock feature to work, follow this easy steps:

1. Reach into pocket, pull out cell phone*

*If no phone, rotate wrist (optional right or left) and look at watch.

One of the most missed features of my '00 TL.

Don't ask why but I sit in my stopped car for periods of time and it was convenient to glance at the time.

When I commuted to school, I did everything in my car...eat, nap, etc. I would always have to check the time, but I also had a tendency to forget to wear my watch and cell phone.

My TSX has been in the shop all week...so I can't test it out. I'm assuming it doesn't show up when the key is in position 1? (ie: listening to the radio?)

Got y'all beat. I had an '82 Accord LX hatchback ... with the digital clock (which I didn't like). If you pressed the plastic hinged cover, it activated the clock for a minute(?) or some interval. Cute, but nothing to ooh and ahh about.

20th century people did have watches. 21st century people don't use watches. Everyone uses their cell phone. Just take a look around...you won't see many people with watches. At work, I get asked every day what time it is

^ So, I'd say that isn't working out so well. "What time is it?" "What time is it?" "What time is it?" "What time is it?"

People, carry your phone, or pda, or mp3 player, or gps, or high tech briefcase, or Vista-compatible laptop, or blinking Nikes, or Oakley electronic sunglasses, or ... SOMETHING that tells time.

There are so many things now that tell time, that changing my watches for DST is the least of my problems. I have to update the dining room clock, the stove, the microwave, the car... thank God TVs and VCRs update themselves from PBS.

Just look straight up and check where that bright round orange thingie is. If it is straight up, it is 12pm. If it is a little bit to the right, it is 3pm. If it is right in front of your face and it turns red, it is 7pm. hahahaa!

if so inclined take the radio out.. cut the switched wire assuming its 12volts and splice the radio memory power wire to the switched source.. always on.. i know the setting feature is tied into the radio but i assume the rest would be different

You don't need to do this. Just plug a small 12V battery to the 12V plug next to the "Not a Astray" thingie. The radio will come on.

i agree with your battery idea but for those that dont want to deal with that mess a direct 12 volt line from the memory wire will keep the clock on without needing anything plugged in.
