How to remove tint from rear window?

I know it's blasphemy here, but I need to get the aftermarket tint removed from the rear window of my new (used) TSX. (It's too darn dark, and my wife has night vision problems.)

The dealer took off the side window tints, but was afraid to remove the rear, for fear of breaking one of the defroster wires on the window.

Any suggestions for how/where?

Thanks!

Good luck. Do some google searching. You'll most likely have to repair some of the defrost wires.

Supposedly it's not too hard. You simply use tape to mask for each line where there's a gap, and then apply the special sauce. Let it dry, apply a second time, let it dry, then remove tape. It's actually described in the Helm's manual.

i work at a place that tints- they spray the tint with simple pink or water, the cut up a black trash bag and cover the inside completely. then either use heat gun-slow- or big heat lamp or if it is warm outside just park it with that window facing the sun. it will usually sweat the film and part of the glue off. then use simple pink and a fine steel wool pad to clean the glue off. it takes a little while to do......

If you can free a corner use amonia based window cleaner or add amonia and a sponge and do small sections at a time let it soak in for a few seconds from top to bottom DONT SPRAY IT ON or youll fu$% up your interior.if you let it soak in it should be fairly easy to remove................

I removed the old tint on my old accord, just get a bunch of black trash bags, Windex with ammonia(the old school blue stuff). Put a few bags across the rear deck to catch excess drops, cut a bag open then to slightly bigger than the rear window. Spray a liberal amount of the windex on it and then put the black bag over the window to keep the windex against the tint and from drying up. Park in the sun for about 30 minutes. Then peel at one corner and slowly, I mean slowly, pull back the tint. Usually if you go slow enough, not to much adhesive will be left behind. Then just re-spray the window with the windex and wipe of with a rag and the adhesive with come off easily. Super easy to do, no scraping, sanding or picking and I had no damage to the FM lines or the defroster lines.
