i am just wondering how much it would cost to get our car at around 250 whp or more? just curious because i may want to do exhaust and header next year but i am only going to do it if i can get it to 250whp. i know the majority of the cost will come from the supercharger, $4000 plus install. thanks

Looks like you already answered your own question. It should be more like $6K to get up that high...

Will the transmission, and other drive components, handle a 25 percent increase in power and probably a 30-40 percent increase in torque?

Plenty of people have gone this route without any such problems so I'd say yes.

Not sure if you have any hook up for installation, but let me break down for you w/ an approximate estimate from my end.

Comptech S/C - $4000USD + Shipping (Last time I heard they don't have anymore in stock?)
Comptech S/C installation - This is a 6-8+ hrs job and I don't think you can/want to DIY on it. $700 - 1,000 (GTA price)

To pump up the WHP a little bit, you would like some bolt-on as well.

Intake (Comptech, Injen etc) - $200ish
Intake install - $Free - $50 (GTA price)

Race Header (Maxim, Hytech etc) - $1000+ish
Sport Header (DC, Comptech, OBX, e-bay) - $300 - $700 (Range from e-bay to GTA price)
Header install - $50 - 80 (GTA price)

Since you are planning to S/C, let's get rid of some back pressure, and make it sounds better.
Cat-back exhaust (too much to list) - $600 - $1200+ ish
Exhaust install - $50 - 80 (GTA price)

I will get a high-flow cat as well, it's a must to open up the bottle neck.
High-flow Cat (Custom, Magnaflow, RT) - $100 - 300
Cat install - $Free - Tips.

So depends on what you want, it's likely to set you back @ $7,000.

While it looks like a fun novelty and I would love to throw one around at a track, as an actual vehicle to own, I'd take regular motorcycle 100 times before that thing. For $53k there is a very, very long list of vehicles I would buy before that thing.

no chance. have you seen youtube videos, ferrari owners that have the t rex have said that it is the best thing they have every driven. and i love the way that it looks. plus it will get more looks and it will pretty much beat any car at the $53 000 range

It's an impractical road vehicle though. I'd be extremely uncomfortable in such a low vehicle with so little protection. You will very easily disappear from the view of all the SUV driving ass hats that drive like shit to start with. At least on a bike your head is about as high as people in "regular" sized trucks/SUVs. It makes a big difference.

Are you planning on taking it to a track on regular basis? It's a lot of money for abilities you very infrequently get to use. It's your money and all, so do what you will. I could only justify it if I were planning on using what I'm paying for.

This is a fair breakdown of how much it'd cost to hit 250+whp. For me, I estimate my total costs to have been around $7,500 or so.

As for the T-Rex, I'd personally much rather have an Ariel Atom. It's faster, just as fun (if not moreso), and not much more expensive .

...btw, just curious but what does a 19 year-old do to have enough money to afford a heavily-modded TSX & a T-Rex?

I work n go to school. On the side I have a small business. But I'm most likely going to split the Trex with a close friend of mine. N I believe the ariel atom is ilegal in Canada.

When you grow up you will realize there is more to life than "looks" you get from others.

Spending 53k to make yourself happy purely on the looks from others is downright stupid IMO and i'm being nice.

Be smarter than other stupid 19 year olds with money.. save it, invest it, retire early. 53k for a stupid looking toy isn't ever worth it.. personally i'd much rather get a used sports car for that.. and you can get plenty for that range.

If i had to waste a ton of money on a toy in that range i'd surely get something better looking like this: http://www.gizmag.com/trirod-f3-adre...torcycle/8576/

$53K I'd look at a slightly older Audi RS6! Speaking of boost how does a German twin turbo V-8 sound?!?! On top of that if you're in Canada the AWD can't hurt!
