how much have you guys paid for 20k check up?

I'm about to bring my car into the dealer for the 20k mile check up. I haven't brought it in before yet. I'm only planning to bring it in on 20k intervals because it involves the most things. What are some of the prices people have been paying for the 20k service?

The 20k service is only:

Oil Change
Tire Rotation
Inspect a bunch of stuff

So you shouldn't have to pay a lot for it. I didn't take mine to the dealer, so I don't know exactly what they would have charged, but I called to ask them and they said "well, it's just an oil change and a tire rotation, so that's all you'd have to pay for."

Not sure how much the dealer will charge for a rotation, but I figure you should easily be able to get out the door for less than $50 max, 'cause I think my local dealer charges $25 or $30 for an oil change.

If they charge you more, then they're charging you for "inspecting" stuff. My suggestion, call your dealer, ask them how much the 20k service is and ask for a breakdown of the pricing.

I bought oil yesterday and and torque wrench to rotate my tires and make sure I tighten it right. I have the helms manual, it's a pretty long list to inspect. I'm just thinking it would be best to inspect the car in case anything needs fixing it'll be done earlier than later. Do you think it's important to?

Edited: Rephrased.

If you have the manual, and know what to look for, by all means, do it. If you planned on paying someone money just to look them over because you don't know what to look for... nah, that's probably not worth it. This is just my opinion, hopefully some more people will chime in with other opinions to help you out.

Now, at 30k, where there's a little more stuff to check out, IIRC, and things are a little more likely to be wearing out, that's a little more important, I think.

At 20K, that would be a type C service under the severe schedule and I believe it goes in the areas of low 200's CAD.

I wouldn't pay them to look at your car. My experience with Honda/Acura is that they will give you a good look anyhow because in the event something does need work, they will point it out and what convenience, they can fix it. I have a very high trust with their mechanics as they have always been proactive and went so far as to point out a free oil change due on my wife's car when she had some emmissions recall work done. I believe my oil change(w/filter)/tire rotation was about $40.

Service Sound System $6.99 each time.... What the heck is this? Adjust my setting for optimal car performance? Amazing how they put these crazy items on the service list.

Must include deleting all of your presets and readjusting the treble and bass settings to 0. Maybe it's there to remind them to try and hock the new DVD to the navi owners. Some of the things make sense (but I'd have to say that a good dealer will do most of that inspection crap out of good faith to the customer) but there's no way in hell I would pay them $6.99 to 'service' my sound system.
