How much fluff is in CPO TSX pricing?
How much fluff is in CPO TSX pricing?
Hey guys I was just curious as to how much fluff you think dealers are pricing into their TSX's. I ask because 2004's are going from 22,000 to 25,000 with <40k miles. This is ridiculously expensive especially the 25k cars. Just curious as to how much negotiating room you feel is in there. Seems like from all my reading for similar cars they give between 17,500 and 19k for trade and I talked to a buddy of mine today that said they go at auction for 17 or 18k with similar mileage. Just wanted your thoughts on this.
Buy one from a private party (even if you have to go a couple hundred miles to pick it up) while it's still under factory warranty and save a bundle. Even if you do buy used from a stealership, never pay for CPO -- the dealer almost always does all the inspection and repairs that go along with the CPO tag whether you pay for it or not.
Do a search...

Plenty of room. Think about it...I traded in my car for $19.5k. The dealer prices the car at $24.4k. That's close to $5k of room for negotiation. Assume $1k added to the trade-in price for the dealer's fees and cost to detail the car. You should still negotiate the price down to around $21.5k easily, giving the dealer plenty of profit on the car.
