I've got one. Amazing technology! Also have the Escort 8500. The Valentine has much better range but it will false alert in cities more often. You can change the sensitivity to help that. Radar detectors do seem to work better when either 1. You turn down the stereo so you can hear it and 2. You remember to plug it in!

Well worth the $400. It has saved me from many potential speeding ticket situations. I have hardwired a V1 on all my cars past and present and I must say the TSX was the easiest car to hardwire it in since the wire tucks in neatly into the headliner edge and behind the A-pillar trim and into the fusebox.
And I agree with what someone said: the V1 or any radar detector is useless if you can't hear or see it, or if you forget to plug it in. This is why hardwiring is essential. Also, the only time I've ever been ticketed in the last 3 years was because I was blasting my stereo and failed to hear my V1's audible warning in the background. My bad.

I have remote hard-wire V-1 setups in 3 cars.
I have the V-1 main unit mounted in the pocket of a Case Logic visor organizer (about $8, Target Stores) with a hole cut out of the leading edge for the LIDAR antenna. (Not really necessary if you run a laser jammer, too...)
I ran the cord down under the trim piece on the right-side "A" pillar, forward of the head airbag, held in place with 3M Duct Tape, down under the glovebox and into the console. My "Not an Ashtray" is replaced with the V-1 remote display and "kill" switches for the V-1, police scanner and laser jammer. I use the hot wire and ground under the "Not an Ashtray" auxiliary power outlet. Everything goes "on" when I start the car and "off" when I shut the car down, so no battery drain for forgetfulness. If I close the "Not an Ashtray" compartment lid, everything is completely hidden.
Next best thing to a Romulan Cloaking Device, especially if it's set up in a Volvo Turbo station wagon! www.startrek.com/store
On a more serious note, Lidatek is introducing a new, more powerful laser jammer, the LE30, but it's not ready to be shipped yet. http://www.lidatek.com/
I'll post pictures of this all - someday, if and when I figure out how to use a digital camera and how to post pictures. That is, if I don't trade the car first!
Yeah! I know! I know!

I have it and it's worth every penny.
I did get a ticket a few months ago tho. The cop hit me with the laser and the instaneous warning went off but too late.
The detector did save my ass plenty of time tho.

I cant say enough good things about my V1. If you have something that has saved you the frustration and not to mention the expense of speeding tickets for five consecutive years, you really begin to believe in the V1. Its like that AMEX motto..."Don't Leave Home Without IT !"
The V1 is actually 2 radar detectors, one facing frontwards and one facing rearwards.
Like any tool, you have to understand how it works. I recommend that you drive the speed limit (to minimize risk) very closely and then observe how the V1 responds, alerts, sounds , etc. This will allow you to understand how and what/what not to respond to.
A while back in another post, a person had referred to the arrows as being insignificant. Our fighter aircraft utilize a radar detector which informs the pilot as to what type of radar is tracking them, as well as it's location/ proximity. This allows the pilot to respond accordingly and avoid being shot down.
The same applies to the V1. You are able to locate exactly where your radar source is. Whether its to the front / rear or to your side as you pass it.
I've also had multiple smokeys. You pass one and with a normal detector, it would continue beeping and you'd assume that that was your radar trap. But waiting ahead is another trap, the V1 would clearly indicate this by flashing the side arrow as you had passed one radar trap and then by flashing the front and rear arrows clearly indicating that you've multiple targets with one ahead and another now rearward.
All of these companies have a 30 day return policy, I recommend that you try a V1 for a couple of weeks and then if it doesn't work for you just return it,
