How heavy is your key chain?

Recent recall of 650,000 Honda vehicles may indicate people put too many keys in their key chain while driving. Is this true?

My keychain is a dual ringed separateable.

One end = TSX key and key fob

Other end = apartment door key, mailbox key, mini-Leatherman.

Probably weighs 4 oz.

Or maybe it's not the weight of the keychain so much as the location of the ignition switch. My knee is always bumping into the keys, and vice versa. I liked how my old Camry's ignition switch was on the dash console area, under the gauges, and facing the driver. It was easier to find/see, and the keys never swung around, bashing against the steering column, my knee, or anything else.

Nitpicky, but hey, we're discussing the potentially excessive weight of keys, so...:P

Anyway, I've got:
TSX key and FOB
House key
Mail key (small)
Plastic pyramid proximity reader (small teardrop shaped plasic key for electronic access to office door)
Master key for all office doors (I'm office manager)

I keep my car keys and fob on a separate keyring for that reason.

- Louis Vuitton key and change holder (this holds my house & mailbox keys, no change)
- Remote & Car Key

One day I happend to have 15 loonies ($1 coins) in my key/change holder, no realizing the strain that it puts on the ignition. That happened only once, and now I use it only for TTC tokens and the keys.

Speaking of the location of the ignition... has anyone noticed the plug/socket near the ignition switch, I believe on the steering wheel? I'm assuming that is for some sort of servicing computer.

I weighed my keys and my phone when I was at the fedex store.. They both way .40.

My keychain consists of the acura remote/key, an acura keychain, and a little swiss army knife.

Here's a pic.

Oh man. I have an entire key ring system. I have one large "master" ring that is a large aluminum carrabiner. On that I have six separate keyrings. There are 3 rings for my cars:

1) Original 1960's leather fob with metal "Mercury Man" badge. Keys for Comet.

2) Acura remote & key.

3) Truck remote and keys.

The last two also have house & garage keys and a Shell "easypay" gas tag (like SpeedPass).

I have another ring with bike keys and Yakima rack lock keys and at least one key for I-don't-know-what.

Another ring for my grandparents house & garage, plus another I-dunno.

Another ring for work keys.

I also have a few things that I swap onto the master ring from time to time - a micro mini-mag flashlight, a swiss army knife and a Leatherman Micra tool.

So the master keyring is this huge heavy clump of keys and pointy things. Awkward to carry, but hard to lose.

I usually just remove the keyring I need currently from the master ring and use it separately.

I tell ya, I have key management down to a science. Everyone needs a hobby, right?

Didn't expect that answer, huh jcg878??? LOL!

My favorite was "gun case key".
