How does a block heater install?

no they dont have to take out the oil pan.. the block heater to install it they take just out a plug/bolt that is on the engine block and replace it with the engine block heater plug/bolt ... u should go ask them why your car is leaking cause it doesn't involved taking the oil pan out

Coolant would be the only fluid that would leak out.

FYI, there are heaters that install in the oil pan. I'm not going to claim to be any sort of expert here, particularly in regards to these things on the TSX. But there are most definitely heaters that install into the pan (to keep the oil warm and free flowing).

I will ask the dealer which type they installed when I go back Wednesday to get a few things corrected.
