Unhappy How Do I: Use remote while key in ignition

I'm hoping that someone has already solved this problem for me!

I need to be able to use the lock/unlock button on the remote while the key is in the ignition and the car is running.

Occasionally, I need to leave my car running while I run inside the house for instance. I want to be able to lock and unlock my car with the remote! Unfortunately our blessed TSX's are too smart and won't allow us to lock our keys in the car.

Anyone know a workaround or bypass? Looked at the multiplex unit in the Dr.Side door and didn't see anyway to bypass the lockout there.

HELP!!!

To my knowledge no one has gotten around that "feature"

just DO NOT lock the car when the motor is running !!!! (unless you have spare key with you)

With good reason. The stupidity of the many outweighs the needs of the few.

Take your keys out of the ignition, and then lock the car. It's that easy.

Instead of using the remote, use an extra key to lock and unlock the door. It doesn't even need to have the transponder chip since it is only operating the lock cylinder.

Please tell me I was clear in my post I need to leave the car running while I lock it!!! I can do this manually with an extra key from the exterior - but I need to be able to do it with the remote.

I have various devices powered in the car that sometimes I can not shut down everytime I leave my car for 10 minutes - especially in the summer when the A/C needs to stay on. (Computer, communication devices, etc...) In addition, sometimes the car is running and I want to open my trunk with the remote.

I'm just about done with the switchblade style remote/key for the TSX which I will post soon. In the meantime can someone with some electrical experience on the car please help me with this one small task :-)

I don't think it's possible. I'm sure it's programed into the alarm system in such a way that you will render it inoperable if you disable this feature. It's incredible how this system is seamlessly integrated into the car, eg., I don't think any aftermarket alarm system is able to arm/disarm with the key. Which is a really good feature.

Just do yourself a favor and install a remote start system. Some of them can keep an engine running even after the key has been removed for 10 minutes or more. This should meet your needs.
