How do i keep myself in check?

My friend just got a ticket for speeding and then backed into another backing car. Another one of my friend also got a speeding ticket that day. Another friend backed into his dads van a month ago. This has shocked me as terrible and im noticing my driving skills arnt the best but i still drive crazy, i admit it. How can i keep myself in check? Id really like to know. I keep doing crazy stuff, promising myself i wont do it again and then find myself doing it again a week later. And please dont try to make this into a joke, my safety is involved.

I have the same problem. I have only gotten one ticket and that was four years ago. I still find myself driving like a crazy person every once in a while. I think my problem is all the traffic in Orlando and slow people that drive in the left lane and cause a traffic jam. I just moved here from little Key West where I was born and raised and there aren't many traffic jams there. I hate it but its like I just want to get out of the traffic.

I don't think there is a cure for it.

Wrong forum for this.

And what are you trying to ask? How to avoid your friends from hitting you?

People at your age aren't good at making decisions because they have no experience...they need to learn from their mistakes. Something might make so much sense to you, while older people might think it's nonsense. I can't imagine why I used to drive fast and cut people off when I was younger...even when I wasn't in a hurry. Now, even if I'm in a hurry, I'll just go slow and face up to my consequences of being late.

You can't change yourself in an instance...you have to take a proactive approach. For example, if you don't want to speed, you have to always check your speedo (play slow music, etc).

Your driving skills can only improve with practice. Head to a parking lot, and practice. If all of your friends are having problems driving in reverse, then go practice driving in reverse. I can drive just as good going in reverse...I parallel park in about 10 seconds...I can go in reverse and avoid obstacles as if I were in an obstacle course. With my current job, I always have to reverse several yards to get out of my work's parking lot (one entrance/exit, and I park all the way inside...so I just back myself out to the entrance)

My advice is just to take your time. Saving 5 minutes will never be worth what could happen. All of my fender benders and little scratches that I have are from just rushing which causes me to be careless.

yeah, for me $1000 in fines and a month without a license did the trick. If you have the navi system in your car, try looking at the mpg monitoring system, something about getting 15-20 miles to the gallon instead of 30 calms my driving down at times.
