How Do I Get Rid Of Dealer Decal???

Well I just picked up my new CG TSX today and the salesman took me to inspect the car. I went around the car looking for scratch marks and there were none; but lo and behold - the dealership has put on its logo right underneathe the "Acura" plate. I've told him twice over the phone not to put it on my car but it was done anyway. Regardless, I took delivery of the car and made him photocopy an order form that stated specifically not to put their badge on. He told me to go back on a weekday(9-5), but I have work and don't want to take any time off.

I understand that he did everything he was supposed to do and that it was probably the detailer's fault, but I was quite displeased anyway. Anyway, this really takes away from my enjoyment of the brand new car. I just can't bear the sight of my rear end because of the logo.

Does anyone here have suggestions on how I can go about removing it myself? I've already done searches on multiple boards and most just point to dental floss and goo be gone. Don't mean to clog the board up with help posts but it's something that really irks me.

Thanks.

Try hair dryer. However, you got to be very patient and careful, you might end up damage the clear coat and the paint underneath. Take it easy.

Would using a hair dryer do anything to the "Acura" logo above it? It's like 3 cm above the dealer logo...thanks spc.

Just take it to the dealer. You have no idea how that thing is attached, it may not be like the Acura emblems. And if you f it up, your screwed. Just go down there on your lunch break or something and make them take care of it right away...

If it's a badge then try the floss to pull it off. If its just a sticker then peel it off with your finger nail. Then you can use duct tape to remove the residue.

I swear the thep pulls that stuff off. Used it myself before, it'll take a little while but each time you put it on and pull it off more residue will be gone.

wierd, didn't do that for me
Used on my parents mini van and it worked just fine. I just pressed a little bit and pulled off. Like using tape to get animal hair off clothing.

listen, its very simple, ive done to to about all my friends cars for them. first use waxed dental floss to pull the plate off, then you can use a hairdryer to head up the remaining glue, and just rub it off with ur fingers or thumb. i didnt use goo gone on any of the cars, even though it prolly wont mess up ur paint, i just dont trust it. plain rubbing it with ur fingers will do, just be careful not to get blisters..lol after it is all off, give it a little cleaner wax, then a nice wash.

Dealer Decals suck!! When I went to pick up my car...they had put a sticker on mine. I told my salesguy I didn't want it on there and he told me to use a haridryer to take it off. But they ended up having their detail guys remove the sticker for me before I left...

So yeah, hairdryer + patience

they're a bunch of pimps for doing that. I wrote in clear letters on my order form that I would not accept a car with a dealer decal stuck on it. I thought only the NA brands did that crap. Nothing like a beautiful rear end sullied by some asshole's greed. Funny thing is, every time I see a car with that, I make note of the dealer and swear never to ever do business with them.

Make them take it off when you do a first oil change at the dealer. By the way, you are giving the salesman a free pass IMO, as he clearly could and should have told the prep guys not to pimp-out this guy's car... He did NOT do his job.

go back to the dealer and

Besides, my closest Acura dealer says that they are a "premium brand" car company. You could fire back with that same thinking I guess.

We got a winner. Just wake up 1 hour earlier than you usually do and expect to go home 1 hour later than usual.

Thanks guys. I'll call a day in advance to ask if I can get a loaner for this fix and go in early morning on the next day. That way I can blame them instead of myself.
