How dark to go with the Tint

So I just got a new TSX and I must say I feel quite "naked" without the windows tinted. In your opinion how dark should I go with the tint on a Carbon Grey exterior?

22%

or

35%

I have the quartz interior.
I have a carbon gray pearl.

so I got 15% all the way around, minus the windshield.

love it, the kind of tint I got is very, very clear.
visibility is great.

Does PA have goofy tinting laws? How are the cops about enforcing it? I have 35 (legal limit in WA) and I like it just fine. I suppose I would have gone 20 if the laws were different. Not that cops here focus on that (I see 5%'s all the time), but I didn't want the hastle of it being an issue.

im not sure what the law is here, but i've never heard of anyone ever getting bothered about it in philly. the cops had more important shit to deal with lol. its once you get out to those township cops that have nothing better to do.

I've got the CGP with Quartz interior. Went 35 on the front windows, 20 in the back and rear window. Legal limit here in Florida. I got a tint ticket a few years ago and really don't to go through that again. It looks great. Not too dark, but it's hard to see inside at the same time. Night time visibility isn't an issue either. Just get good quality tint and you'll be fine.

20% is pretty dark enough.

I think anything below 20% is little too dark for my taste.

Cool

IMHO, 35% is just too light, sometimes it doesn't even feel like you have tints.

20% FTW.

I think we can all agree that this is ricey.

To the OP, find out what the law is on window tint. If it's 35% then go 35%. Sure that guy in Philly is getting away with 20%, but that doesn't mean you will

Just found it...ummm wow PA law is 70%!!!

The laws in PA is 70% in front and whatever in the back. The glass is already around 70% from the factory so legally speaking, you are not allowed to add tint to the front windows.

Obviously people flaunt this law all the time. Where you live is a big factor in how much you'll be bothered by the police. If it's in a major metropolitan area, they generally won't bother you as they have more important things to do. Outside of the cities, particularly in suburbia you can expect regular harassment. Highway patrol and staties generally won't bug you for that alone but if they pull you over for something else, they will sometimes hit you with an extra ticket for the tints while they've got you there.

It is illegal though and any cop can give you shit about it if they so choose.

Sure you can. You can also scream and writhe around on the ground when he tazes your ass.

Seriously, what a stupid fucking question. Do you actually think you should be able to get away with breaking the law by refusing to roll your windows up? Idiot.

20% all around (minus windshield of course) looks the best, as others have mentioned. Visiblility at night is just fine if you are in fairly lit streets. If it's pitch black around you.. good luck

ew. i'd much rather not tint anything than half tint something.

I was thinking of doing 35 all around and maybe ~60 on the windshield.

Well, you can't really get away with full tint in IL, especially in the Chicagoland burbs. I had my Accord Coupe tinted in Ohio and it was legal there. 50% on all side glass and 20% on just my rear most back window, interior was tan as well. I got pulled over one Sunday afternoon about 2pm in IL for illegal side tint.

My company car which was tinted here in IL is 5% limo on the back 3 windows (sedan) and none on front two doors. Works great for at night as you can easily use your side windows to back out. Plus it at least provides some privacy, better then no tint at all in IL.

You can try and run something on the front doors in IL but you will; at some point, given enough time get pulled over.

It's just not worth looking cool if you constantly get pulled over for no real traffic violation other then tint. Better to just follow the state laws where you live.

I'd do 35% on the windows and 5% on the back if the tint laws are iffy. But since I live in Charleston SC where it gets super hot, I'm planning 20% on the windows and 5% on the back. Make sure you get quality tinting film and work. You don't want the film to turn purple a year from now

Its worth it even if you get pulled over IMO. I have a fairly extreme sensitivity to light. So much so that i never leave home without a hat and my oakleys, and i never open the blinds in my home. Light makes me squint so much it gives me migraines. So to me, its worth the tint and possibly the ticket that goes along with it. That being said, i'm also going to entertain the idea of going to the doctors first, and if that doesn't work i'm still only planning on going down to 35% max

If you have that kind of photosensitivity and have not seen a doctor (and/or an opthamologist - not an optomistrist) you should. Also would wonder if your state had some kind of waiver you can get if it was medically necessary to have darker tints. Something to look into - but get checked out first!

I saw on COPS show once where this gangsta dude in a large full size sedan with bling-bling rims with super dark tints backed up into a cop car.

After he is in cuffs, the gangsta dumbass says, "I didn't see you sir."

Officer says, "You didn't see me because your tints too dark!!!"

LMAO!! OWNED!!!!

You can get a medical exemption for tint in IL - this would be the type of reason for such exemption.

You can in MI as well, but i think they are specific as to what DISEASES you have, not conditions.. but i will check it out. I just hate doctors =[

I went once as a kid for the light sensitivity and they gave my mom those huge black glasses people wear after eye surgery and i said.. uh no.

I just had mine tinted 20% and the car looks so much better than it ever has. My TSX is milano red w/parchment interior. The guy who tinted mine uses Llumar tint so it's very clear and I have no problem backing up at night either. I live in the country so there aren't many lights around and I still can see fine. I would recommend 20% just because it looks better and the car is gets cooler 10x faster when I turn the a/c on now.
