Hood Damper

I'm looking for a hood damper that will fit on our car. I looked all over but can't seem to find one that fits the TSX. I know someone here has to have one, so who knows where I can find them?

I was one of the first few test subjects for the system and mine is still going strong. I have the non-elite version. My favorite is watching an Acura mechanic open the hood.

I gotta admit, I'd rather something that didn't require me to drill into my car, but those holes don't seem to be hard to get to or too close to something I can screw up. Thanks for the link

^yeah it was a bit scary for me to drill into the car, but it worked out perfect.
if you'll notice, there are already other holes very near by just covered by stickers
basically (the way it comes from the factory). I took the plung and don't regret it.

Agreed. When I did this, the car was still pretty new, so it hurt to drill, but I too don't regret one moment of it.

The elite's are stainless steel and no, I've never had any rust. Just as general maintenance of both types, I clean the push rods off yearly with a little lightweight spray oil.

For those of you who installed the Redline Quicklift kit, did you apply any touch up paint to the hood bracket and lower profile 10mm bolts that came with the kit? For that matter, did you apply any touch up paint at all during the install?

I noticed when I removed the original bolts, there is a small unpainted area that was previously concealed by the original bolt.. since the low profile bolt doesn't have a washer that covers this area, I was thinking about using a little touch up paint to protect that area.

No to the lower profile bolts, yes to the areas where I drilled. I wouldn't apply paint to any threads and more than likely since the metal isn't primed, the paint wouldn't stick anyway.

Hey this is like half off topic, but is there a similar thing to pop up our trunks? You know how when we hold the button on the remote, it just opens the trunk, not pop it up. It's much more convenient and cooler looking to have the trunk pop up all the way.

Not terribly off topic, but yea, someone came up with a kit from McCaster Carr. I did a follow up to the original install instructions: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-performance-parts-modifications-126/installation-trunk-shocks-instead-torsion-bars-659895/

I can pretty much assure you won't like it though. The torsion bars do rather well. I've had to replace the hardware once b/c it wasn't aligned 100% correct so one shock was taking a bit more force than the other.
