Im trying to replace my white Back up lights (which is 7440 stock), by a brighter LED bulb from www.superbrightleds.com
Can anyone advise if Im looking at the right replacement:

7440-15 LED bulb "has 9 LEDs aiming out the end and 6 radially mounted LEDs aiming 90 degrees from the base"
or
7440-xHP3 LED bulb "Our brightest 7440 bulb,3 High Power LEDs, Wide 120 degree Viewing Angle"

If it is the right replacment I will get the 7440-xHP3 LED bulb any input
Anyone ????

It's so strange that Hoen has the w5w city light led listed on one page, and the w5w city light led listed on their license plate light page. I think these are the same lights. Following the OP, I just ordered the w5w led from the city lights page, not the license plate light link. Are they identical?

yea the w5w city light radial led can also be used for license plate lights. I just installed the same ones and they fit perfectly

I also have a question myself, is the light in the trunk the same size as the ones in the license plates?

Same story, different day. LED's and and the license plate area don't seem to be a happy combo.

are you serious? did you read this thread at all before posting in it?

it says numerous times where people got them.

many people are having problems with the WLED-WHP. Have anyone had problems with the hoens? I have a pair of WLED-WHP but unopened cause I've read a lot about how they aren't reliable so I installed the Hoen for the license plates instead.

i bought a pair of the hoen w5w led when this thread started. i took it out last week because the right one went out and the left one started flickering. i only had it on my car for 2-3 weeks. i just sent them an email. did anyone get a refund or exchange? i paid over $20 for bulbs that i thought would last longer.

Well I've been using my Hoen city light led's as my plate lights since December of 07. They have officially crapped out on me as of today, February 26th. That means they barely lasted two months. One is completely burnt out and the other one just flickers. Like many on this board, I believe multiple led lights just can't take the beating that the trunk receives. I replaced these hoen led's with some cheapo ebay ultrabright 1-led lights. I imagine that the square looking, single flat led is less likely to come loose like the regular soldered led's. Time will tell. Either way, I'm filing for a warranty replacement from Hoen. I might as well get my money's worth out of the Hoens. When I get the replacements, I'll install them again and see how long they last. I'm willing to bet they'll break as well. Has anyone had lasting success with the superbright wled-whp 1-led super bright bulbs?

HAHA wow. just when i thought i had to dig up this thread, someone saved me some time. mine JUST started flickering. I dont know if it's the hoens because someone on this forum said that the right side of the license lights always flickers. any ways, i'm not sure if it's the hoens or not, but i know one thing after replacing the hoens with WLED-WHP from superbrightleds.com, THEYRE WAAAAY BRIGHTER. the color looks much whiter than the hoens. the hoens are bluer than the WLED-WHP. sooooo, im sticking with the WLED-WHP and hoping it doesnt crap out on me too.

I think I'm going to go this route too. I wonder if it's even worth getting the hoens replaced under warranty considering they're going to crap out again. I think all these multi-led bulbs just don't hold up. Anyone want to buy my replacement hoen's for door use?

mine are still holding up, no flickering from what i can tell.

are yours flickering while driving or when your car is just idle?

from the other LED threads, it seems like the ones from autolumination seem to crap out also. i can't recall if the superbrightled ones are any better.

it's kinda hard to see if it's flickering while driving.........but of course i found out only when it was idle. i tried a "test" by opening and closing the trunk and for some reason it stopped flickering for about 10 seconds and as soon as i open the trunk again and closed it, it flickered.
