i hope you know you don't need to completely remove the boot liner to do this.

at any rate, exactly which lights did you get?

You can just remove the top 3 circled clips in that picture and fold the liner back to do this job.

Regardless, nice looking lights.

Fancy lights are not a performance part or mod, please keep this type of discussion to the general area. Thanks!

i did exactly this today. i couldn't pop out the clear covers, so i took off the liner. it took a while for me to get the bulb housing out, but i finally did and replaced them with my hoens. gonna take a look when it's dark out and see how they look.

yep.

i looked at mine last night. definately an upgrade from the stock bulbs, as silly as it may sound.

i also replaced one of my hoen xenonmatch bulbs yesterday b/c it burnt out. kinda weird, but i didn't bother complaining to hoen as i might've scratched the bulb taking it out. just bought a new pair and replaced it. they're really bright and look great!

I wonder what is the model of the bulbs? As I don't see the list has mentioned anything about TSX. Also, do they deliver to Canada?

Thx!!

Read the entire thread well before asking! I mention that they were W5W bulbs for the plates.

I had these on my TSX for a little over a month, and I loved them! They looked totally Lexus/08 BMW OEM style. But one of them ended up burning out last week when I drove up to NorCal, and when I went in to take them out, they apparently burned the plastic clips a bit because they had dark brown circles on em.

LED's from all the major vendors (SuperbrightLEDs, Autolumination, etc have been unreliable when installed as license plate bulbs. Hoen "officially" recommends against using their incandescent license plate bulbs in confined spaces like ours because they burn hot.

So, it looks like Hoen isn't a better option, either.

Did you have Hoen's incandescent bulbs or the LED bulbs?

Nope you can't pop the covers from the outside. Just remove the top snap-in screws and slider bars from the inside of the trunk lid and peel the lining and swap the bulbs.

****Remember to never touch any light bulbs with you bare hands. The oil from them will sizzle on the bulb and will crack and burn out the bulbs.

I used to have some LEDs in my old CL when I had it and it always mess up on me... but so far i got the Hoen cause it " Looks " quality made lol

but so far some people would like to take the whole lining out to replace the bulbs, but some would like to just take those 3 clips and fold it back but I'm just afraid it might have a crease in the lining afterwards... oh well :-)

according to the helms manual i have for 06+, you can pop the clear covers from the outside and replace the bulb. that's actually the method they illustrate to change the bulb.

the problem is even if you're able to undo the two clips anchoring the cover in, the actual housing for the bulb is also connected to the plastic covers through another set of clips. there didn't seem to be enough slack from their wire connected to the housing to pull the whole thing out, which is why i elected to remove the lining and go from the inside.

but maybe i did it wrong.

Yeah, I heard the same things about the other vendors, so that is why I decided to pay more for the Hoen's.

I'm not too sure if they were the incandescent or LED's, I'll check when I get out to my car later today. But they must have been the incandescent version to heat up like that, right?

EDIT: Shit, after looking at Hoen's website again, I believe I ordered the incandescent W5W's Maybe I'll give it a try with the LED W5W's; those are the ones everyone is talking about, right?

Not sure which version I got but mine has been running well for many months now, definitely recommend Hoens. I love the pure white look, just like the Lexus'.

I just bought these as well. Did yours have six led's too? They look a little small, and the little baggy they came in says "HPN-0146 WSW Array 997TT" Does that sound right?

Not understanding why you removed the whole trunk liner. I just pulled the back part down and installed. Took all of 5 min.

Very good result

1
On the link you provided there are 2 bulbs http://www.hoen-usa.com/city2.htm
w5wcity: Hoen W5W city light - high output, bulk packaged
w5wcc: Hoen LED W5W citylight radial array for HID equipped vehicles
I just need to confirm. The right bulb is the first one (w5wcity). Am I right? Correct me if I am wrong.

2
The hoen website recommends adequate area around bulb for cooling and no plastic parts touch the bulb. Is there enough room or is the bulb touching the plastic bulb-cover on the TSX

3
I notice the light reflection on the bumper is weak compared to other LED lights. Or is it the picture doing no justice to the hoen bulb

4
Is this bulb any better or brighter then WLED-WHP LED wedge base bulb from http://superbrightleds.com

Thx

I took off the plastic flashing piece that is above the plate. Took all of 3 minutes to replace all the bulbs and snap the plastic piece back on...............

License Plate Lights...much brighter...just bad lighting with the camera...

Map Lights

Door Lights

These are all WLED-WHP's

don't mind the shots...you really haven't see them in person...they're much whiter with a slight blue tint...they look like 6000k HID's

3022-WHP2 Festoon bulb - $6.95 each

ordered 3...2 for the front and 1 for the rear

WLED-WHP - $4.95 each

ordered 6...but you only need 4...2 for the front doors, 2 for the license plate...for some reason I thought the rear doors had lights too....

again, WHP bulbs...so they all match

Sorry Im reposting my question here, since the other thread sounded dead

Im trying to replace my white Back up lights (which is 7440 stock), by a brighter LED bulb from www.superbrightleds.com
Can anyone advise if Im looking at the right replacement:

7440-15 LED bulb "has 9 LEDs aiming out the end and 6 radially mounted LEDs aiming 90 degrees from the base"
or
7440-xHP3 LED bulb "Our brightest 7440 bulb,3 High Power LEDs, Wide 120 degree Viewing Angle"

If it is the right replacment I will get the 7440-xHP3 LED bulb any input

for the festoon bulb, do you mean the 2 maplights and 1 dome light?
also, what about the trunk bulb?
