We're WAY overstocked on 2004 TL accessories, and want to mark them down below our current low prices

I'm thinking of having a 24 hour 04 TL sale in which all 04 TL accessory prices are marked down by 15%. Anyone interested?

Great that you're offering this on here, but.....

I've never cottoned to the idea of "1-day" sales of this sort. In fact, aren't they a bit offensive? Obviously you want to sell them faster than what the market would ordinarily bear, so why not just lower the prices for now, PERIOD? Why put pressure on people to buy right this minute? I know, I know -- to move the stuff fast. But IMHO not only is it offensive, it might be counterproductive from even the most short-sighted sales standpoint because (1) it's a turn-off, and (2) people who might be ready to do it in a week won't even give you a look because they assumed you meant it when you said 24 hours.

Wouldn't you accomplish the same thing, and without any turn-off to anybody, if you just said you were offering the discount until the oversupply runs out?
(And isn't that really what you'll probably do anyway, even though you're saying "24 hours"???)

I second that. "24hr sales" buy it now or pay full price later is a bunch of bs. Most people don't even have their TLs yet. And why is this posted in the news/rumor section?

No...do listern. Having an over inventory sale is not the issue. Putting a time limit on it is. Last I heard we were not suppose to be advertisting ourselves here. At least not in this section. If it's good for HondaAcuraworld, then its good for everybody else. Right?

And if Im correct you guys represent a dealer group via the internet. Which means at the very best this belongs in the dealer section.

 

Remind him that he can buy an ad and put it on the top of every page.

Gee, thanks! Y'know, I never even noticed that we had ads down there. And if I didn't, probably a lot of other people didn't either.

In that case, maybe we should just to him. But of course we can still give him our suggestions.

Lesson learned.....I won't post things like this in here. I was actually thinking of an 04 Tl group buy on everything, maybe for a week or so, but I'll just wait and see for now.

a lot of retailers have 24hr, 48hr, 1-day, weekend, etc sales so IMO I don't understand what the fuss was about? i can understand the sensitivity with the time limit since not a lot of ppl dont have TLs yet so they'll be forced to buy now(to save money) and install later...but from past experiences with hondacuraworld.com, Tim always sets up a group buy if a certain item is being requested by a bunch of folks, so even if they miss out on the 24hr sale they can create a thread to get a group buy going later...for example, i missed out on the first OEM kit group buy here but after getting enough ppl, tim set up a second OEM kit group buy for us

I think a 24-hour sale would be a great idea. If someone is offended by it, then don't buy. The fact that Tim is even willing to mark, the already low, prices down even further should show you his willingness to cater to the cummunity. Remember, as much as you would hate to believe, hondacuraworld is still a business and they still have to make profits. By offering specials they're just trying to win your business over other OEM retailers by showing you that they're willing to go the extra mile. I, personally, appreciate it.

Maybe another possibility would be monthly special.

Man, you guys are being really hard on Tim (after all the nice group buys he's given us). I think it may be a bad time for a 24 hour sale, but in a couple months it could be a really great idea. And even if you miss out now, it's not like Tim won't be willing to consider other discounts/group buys/etc. in the future. What's the problem?

 

If you don't like 24hr sales, don't buy then!

What's wrong with offering a discount with a time limit? There are many people who don't want to haggle and look forward to this kind of no-pressure sale...
