Headlights for 2004

Wondering if any one has purchased OEM replacement headlights (not genuine OEM) and what their thoughts are on it? I'm not looking for clear corners.

My headlight assembly's have taken a beating throughout the years and mileage. I've tried the headlight restorations kits which include wet sanding, but I don't like the results. So instead of trying other products or hiring a pro to get them looking "like new", I'll just splurge to get new units.

I'm going to rebuild my jdm headlights off a friends 04-05 headlights. I don't see whats wrong in buying a set but buying new might be too steep I look online or ask friends who have jdm headlights to sell you theirs.

Looks like these are your best bet, price-wise at least. I have no idea on the quality.

Thanks for the link. Not a bad price for OEM like replacements, plus free shipping and 3 yr warranty.

My headlights were turning slightly yellow and hazy. I went to the Meguiar's detailing class last week, and I was able to restore them to like new conditions.

Thanks. In the past, my buddy has invited me to those classes too, but for some reason I wasn't able to make it. I've tried Meguiar's Plastix, which initially look good, but then after the headlights have been exposed to the sun, the haze returns. I moved on to wet sanding with increasing fine grit, then a plastic polish, which smoothed out the surface scratches, and which again initially looked good, but the haze returns. I'm thinking it could be the inner part of the headlights that's causing the problem (which would mean my headlights aren't sealed)
So instead of purchasing and trying different products, I may just cough up the dough for new headlights.

Yup. 113K miles, car has lived in extreme heat, rain, and snow. I've regularly driven the car on highway roads that aren't regularly maintained, plenty of road debris.

When I was there, I asked the question regarding how long this product would last. Their response was that once the headlights started turning yellow and hazy, they'll come back eventually, and possibly more frequent. So the product is basically to restore the clarity, but not to prevent it from happening again. It's a bummer, but oh well, my car will be up for sale in about a week, so I don't have to worry about it much.

Thanks for the info. I remember reading a auto article about headlight hazing and products for it. Once the haze, scratches and yellowing go too far, there's nothing to retore it other than to buy new headlights.

vwong, are you on e90post?

Must have a Rare '04 here then - don't baby my lamps at all and they are clear with only a moderate bit of road rash but hardly noticeable at 125K.
