That doesnt seem right. It doesnt take paint off my car when I use it. I'm pretty sure its not supposed to either. Either your paint is seriously messed up, you're buffing it way way too hard (I buff it pretty hard and no paint comes off), or you're mistaking the color of the scratch x on the cloth as paint.

I've used in on blue, black and silver cars and never noticed any paint on the cloth, in spite of going over the same area multiple times. I've also only found it to effective against very shallow scratches.
I don't have it right in front of me, but as I recall, the color is an off-white.

I've used scratch X for years and never had the color come off, of a clear coat car. This stuff is awesome
If your car is acrylic or enamal single stage (non-clear coat paint) it will come off on the towel or cloth you buff with.
Did you use this on a TSX? I'd assume they are all clear coat cars. However Toyota 4runners of the last gen were never clear coat if the color was black, black tended to look newer longer as an acrylic.

Scratch-X is essentially a medium polishing compound (or a light rubbing compound, whatever you prefer to call it).
Great stuff!!
However, if you saw color come onto the cloth, make sure it's A: Not the compound itself, and B: Not color transfer from the towel or a logo/stitching on the towel.
If it's neither of the above, then you surely pressed WAY too hard and for too long, and burned right through the clearcoat into the color-coat. Bad bad bad.

Just to add, DON'T use a rotary/random orbital with Scratch X. It's so sticky that it ripped the cotton bonnet off the random orbital when it tried. Nearly mashed my paint.
