Just sell the G.

The G gets horrible gas mileage. LIke 12-18mpg. Plus the TSX should be cheaper to insure since its a 4 door not a 2 door.

Get the TSX!

I agree. My dad is contacting the insurance agent tomorrow to discuss why it went up so much.

And thats a typo... my sister is 25... thats why her insurance went down. She has a perfect record so thats why hers went down.

did you maybe get your senior driver license at 17? that could be why. your sister turning 25 makes sense. but unless something changed in your status, your insurance shouldnt go up

My reason for posting over here is I’m at the stage in my life where I need to make some big changes and for a number of reasons, my G35 coupe isn’t the most practical car for me to be driving while making these big decisions. I am 21 years old, goto school full time and work full time. I will be graduating in a year so I am trying to invest money anyway I can but gas and insurance (I don’t have a car payment because my car got paid off when my grandmother passed away she left me 20k which allowed me to pay my loan.)) is killing me. I live in MA where we get slammed on insurance, but for my perfect driving record at my age I should not be paying 3k a year for an 04 G35. Most of the reason is the car I drive, and since I can't beat the state I may just have to sell the car and look for something with 4 doors.

Now I was never a 4-door fan but something about a white TSX really appeals to me. I have a few questions about the car. First how will getting out of an 04 g35 coupe and getting into a used (prob 05) TSX affect my insurance. The last time I talked to them they said a BIG part of why I am paying so much is because the car has 2 doors. Also how does it do on gas mileage? I have a 6 spd right now but I think If I do go with the TSX I will be going with an automatic for this reason, which brings me to my last question, can the car get out of its own way when it needs to? I did some research and dug up the number and found the TSX is 200hp with 167 torque. Now I have had 2 cars thus far in my life, an 01 IS300 and an 04 G35. Since the G is faster than both can anyone compare the power of an IS300 to a TSX for me, because I know what that car feels like. And lastly, how is the reliability of this car? I know its a Honda, and I know their built very high quality but is their any common problems with these cars? (I know their is plenty with the G35). Thanks guys for taking the time to read all that, I look forward to your replies, thanks in advance.

Like you, I had a G35 (2004). In January 2005 I traded in the G35 for a 2005 CG TSX 6sp because my needs changed. At the time, I was 36 and about to get married and I felt it was time for something a little more practical since we are planning on having a kid soon. I don't regret for a moment that I traded the G for TSX. I think getting the 6sp gives me the perception that it's a sportier car than it is. Many friends that get in the car are suprised that it's a manual.

Before I had the G35, I had a 2002 Mazda Miata which I regret trading in for the G35. As powerful as the G is, it does not have the soul or fun to drive factor the Miata did. I think the TSX comes pretty close to being a Miata sedan the way it handles itself.

On the G i was getting 17-18mpg vs 27-29mpg on my TSX. I can't compare how much my insurance changed because in the process of buying a house we had to switch insurance companies a couple of times to get everything from one company.

I like the white looks but I believe it does not come with the black interior which I think would look great. Not a fan of the parchment.

My parents had that car back in the 80's.

my best friend in high school ran of the road in one of these things and hit a tree. the engine ended up in the drivers seat. luckily, by chance, he wasn't wearing his seat belt, and got thrown from the car, so he was ok (besides some broken bones).

The car that just won Japan's car of the year?

It's got a pretty sweet racing heritage, so, no, if anything it's a compliment...

Stick around long enough and you'll see the TSX being cross shopped with just about everything. Civic, PT Cruiser, etc.

it's nice that it's japan's car of the year....because japenese people are so short, i'm sure they look great in it. me however, will never, ever sit in a powerwheels car again, the last one i had probably had 0.05 HP, and barely could climb a driveway, but at that age, it was appropriate.

sorry. i can't see anyone in this car except for girls, no matter how well it puts up numbers. it's just blah!

if you like it, i'm sorry. my mind will never change on this topic.

let danika patrick race it. it's a chicks car beyond ever saving. it's worse than the mitsubishi eclpise in that respect to me.

Based on your photos, yeah, you would look awkward driving a Miata. And skew the power to weight ratio.

In any case, RadYOacTVe was talking about how the car drives and handles. Which is very nimbly, if you didn't know. To say that the TSX reminds him of that, that's a good thing. You wanna talk about the Miata's shortcomings, then say something more intelligent than "Japanese people are short." A fair number of people on the forums are Asian, if you didn't know, and comments like that are offensive.

If you didn't know, i'm practically married to an asian, and it was a joke. i figured some people would be sensitive, but i'm not out here to screen people's emotions. worse things have been said. and hey, japense people ARE short. it's not offensive. my girlfriend is filipino, she's 5' tall. her dad is like 5'2. i'm not that tall, and i'm taller than everyone in her family.

are you calling me fat? there's a lot of fat people in this forum. if you didn't know, comments like that are offensive. luckily, i'm light hearted, so i don't care and i wont sit on you.

anyways, i lost 10 lbs this week so i'm feeling good and not tipping the balance as much.

i know the miata handles nicely. a guy in my fraternity (who got made fun of to no end) had a miata, so i've driven it. again, if you like the car, great for you.

i've said it in other forums, i cannot resist a chance to knock on a miata, it's just fun.

oh, and anyone over 5' tall, 100lbs would skew the power to weight ratio in that matchbox.

Nah, just park next to one at my complex. I used to knock the car in the past as a girl's car too, but then I was educated on its autocross prowess, and began to show a little more respect.

i guess it deserves some respect for it's performance, but the way it looks is just so goofy to me, that i can't help it. sorry.

i'm well aware of it's capabilities, just don't like the car, and probably wont ever. but some people do, or it wouldnt still be selling. let them enjoy it, but i'll still snicker everytime i see one on the road.

Yui, thanks for the reply. If most of you are real car enthusiasts that you claim to be, you'd know that a miata is more than a chicks car. Comparing the TSX's handling to a Miata is indeed a compliment.

Instead of bashing my taste in cars, realize i've gone from a miata to a g35 to a tsx.
