in my case, whatever the body shop charged me is what the insurance company wrote the check for and it was written directly to the shop.

if its a decent shop, you can cash teh check and pay the repairs on credit card and get rewards if you have a good card

Aren't the side airbags in the driver's seat supposed to deploy in an accident like that?

Great that your insurance company will be working WITH you.

In my experience (my Civic got T-boned by an SUV many many years ago), the check was written out to me by the SUV owner's insurance company. [Not by my insurance company]. I deposited the check, and wrote a separate check to the body shop. It really should not make a difference. The official body shop quote was the amount in check.

I have since traded the Civic for the TSX (obviously).

Good luck, and please show us the workmanship when you can.

Are you kidding?

The accident happened in a controlled intersection and you think it's nobody's fault? Come on! You didn't describe the accident details, but if you were in the intersection and the other guy came through a stop sign and T-boned you, I'd be calling his insurance company and demanding they pay for every cent of the repairs - assuming the facts support that

Somebody is at fault in the accident - if it's you, then call your company and get your car fixed - if it's the other guy, call his company and don't involve your's

Or call a lawyer and check on your rights under your particular state's insurance laws

Good luck and sorry about your car
