Arrow the great car debate

Debating a 2006 TSX or a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T quattro.

The main hanging point for me is the AWD in the A4. I live in MA, so we do get snow. How well does the TSX do in the snow? I drive 44 miles to work round trip mostly highway everyday. So I'm wondering if AWD is necessary in the winter.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

TSX is FWD, so it will do pretty well in the snow. I've lived in NY all my life and driven FWD cars all my life and never had any problems. Make sure you get a good set of snow tires on the cr you will be fine. An AWD car with snow tires will most likely be better than a FWD with snow tires though

Basically, you can have AWD all you want, if your tire suck its not gonne help...

FWD with snow tires>AWD with non-snow tires. But it's tough to beat AWD w/ good tires in bad weather

I'd take the Audi as well, but a 2.0T A4 Quattro comparably equipped to a TSX (leather, sunroof, xenons, homelink, bluetooth, etc) is like $9,000 more than a TSX!!

Build one at audiusa.com and you'll see what I mean. Even if you drop the quattro (for an apples-to-apples comparison), it's $7000 more than the TSX when comparably equipped!!

I traded in my '99 A4 for the '05 TSX couple months ago. Missed the A4, seems way more fun to drive, but am happy with my TSX too, can't beat the TSX on value with all the standard features and etc. Also, the A4, out of warranty is going to be $$$.

Quattro was great for me here in Toronto, I had a set of snow tires as well, so snow was never really a problem, gives you a lot of confidence even on the back roads. But generally, for highway travels, I would assume they plow it pretty good, so as others said, FWD with snow tires should be fine. Afterall, quattro gets you moving, but is the tires that help you stop. So unless you live in an area where you get lots of packed snow and fear of getting stuck, FWD with snow tires should be fine. At least that's what I am hoping for myself entering my first winter without quattro...

The TSX is excellent in the snow. I didn't bother switching to proper winter tires, but I could only imagine how much better it would've been.

Drive with caution of course, and you'll get through the pile ups, blizzards, and sleets just fine.

Of course, but that's because all Acura's come nicely equipped at a great price to compete. Without it, the TSX wouldn't survive.

Well remember that the TSX will come standard with the VSA Stability Control....4 wheel drive is great, but I don't think it should be the main selling point....
