Got my first (free) oil change today

I pulled into the dealership with 4198 miles on the car. I brought it in before the 5k mile change because my free oil change coupon expires this Friday.

Anyway, the first I noticed when got my car back is that the next oil change reminder sticker that they put on the inside of my windshield had a Citgo symbol and title....

Second thing I noticed is that the sticker says I need to bring my TSX in for another oil change @ 7198 miles..... What happened to the 5k mile oil change interval for severe duty cars?

I had a similar situation. I chalked it up as the dealer trying to make more money from more frequent oil changes.

Mabye the service guys are just used to assuming people getting their Oil changed every 3000 miles. The deal is the warranty is valid as long as you get your oil changed every 10000 miles so get it doen whenever you want before then.

Yeah i double checked.. its mos def every 5,000 even under "severe"

However, they might have taken it to the local oil change place if they were in a time crunch, regardless standard for most cars under normal duty is every 3000 miles at least. So that being said, I would ignore the sticker and listen to who built your car

So even if the sticker indicated an oil change at your mile + 3000, it should be ignored? Even if your mile + 3000 is complete, Another 2k mile won't be bad for the engine? Even with regular oil? Or am I misunderstanding....

I thought synthetic oils were the ones that lasted long.

Yes, :P I know the manual says 5000 mile oil change intervals for severe duty. I was just questioning why they put a 3k mile interval on the sticker.

I guess I should've just called the dealer....

You can do your first oil change too soon.. however after the initial break in, unless somebody can explain to me why not I dont see why changing your oil more often would hurt the car. However from a pocket book stance, i plan on doing synthetic every 5k once i hit 4k
