I'm not sure of the actual percentages but I wonder if maybe most states require front license plates. Last summer, we took a vacation to a number of national parks out west and most of the cars (from a wide variety of states) had them. I'm from the Indianapolis area too and I'm kind of glad it's not required here. I like a car with a clean look, with as few stickers, tags, etc. as possible.

WAIT! Just did a search... According to this site...

http://www.worldlicenceplates.com/usa/US_XLPR.html

...it looks like most states (39 to 21 by my quick count) do require front tags, but not as many as I expected.

Tell me about your ride and buying experience in Indy. I'm heading towards a March-April purchase of the 6MT, non-navi.

Sorry indydriver, I'm not an owner yet. In fact I'm going to be patient and wait for '06. I want to keep my current car for another year. I will also be getting a 6MT, non-navi so maybe you can give me some info about your experience later on. I spoke briefly with a guy at Ed Martin Acura a few weeks ago about supply of 6MT's. They don't seem to get very many so I'm guessing that I'll have to order one or hope that they can get one from another dealer since I will also be picky about the color I want (CGP/quartz). Also, when I was at Ed Martin, every TSX had an additional window sticker listing an "Acura Protection Package" or somethng like that for another $500. This kind of thing makes me think "greedy dealer" so I was thinking of starting with Hubler Acura in Greenwood. If things don't work out locally, I would be willing to travel a bit to get what I want so if necessary, I will do the "negotiate by phone/fax/e-mail" thing with some of the more distant dealers.

By the way, have you noticed how FEW TSX's there are around here? I have seen a total of three since they came out. Maybe there are more on the northside or southside where the dealerships are (I live in Brownsburg).

Anyway, good luck with your upcoming purchase. I look forward to hearing about your experience.

Hubler Acura's "protection package" is $700. They didn't mention it when they sent me an email quote to get me in the door. Various other things about my experience yesterday also gave me the willies. There is a small chance that I will be getting a car from them tomorrow, but at the moment I'm inclined to back out.
