Goodbye TSX-Faithful Friend

Hello All,

I am trading my TSX in for an STI tommorow. The TSX has been the best car that I have ever owned yet I got bit by the power bug and finally got a speeding ticket off of my MVR that made my insurance a small fortune.

I really should have gotten my TSX in 6-speed instead of automatic, but I too bent while purchasing this car and yielded to my wife (who has driven the car once in 2 years) and fearing my 80 mile commute would be unbearable. I am mostly going to miss my sat/nav system and all of the time I spent entering poi in that thing.

On the upside, my first install/mod on the STI will be the Pioneer AVIC-N2 CD/DVD/NAV system with the traffic ready receiver.

I wish you all the best and have enjoyed this forum for the past 2 years.

I dont get it. You got a speeding ticket and your insurance went throught the roof, so you decide to buy a faster car?

What am I missing here with that logic?

Thanks for all the positive comments. I will defintly be back in an Acura one day. I would keep both if I could afford to. Now the wife on the other hand is not to pleased about the STI. My wife will be the first one to smack me on the head if I ever get lost in the STI and tell me I never should have sold the TSX. Hopefully, the Pioneer AVIC-N2 will be on par with the Acura Navi.

Thanks all. Picked it up this afternoon. Everything runs very well. The car is way fast and I just really kept it in 6th while I get familiar with everything. THe ride is not as bad as I thought it would be. It is a little on the bouncy side but I can handle that.

I bought a 93 Cobra from Riverside Ford in Macon when I lived there in 94. It was a great place to buy a car then and seems like it still is. Congrats on the speedy car and spring for the Passport radar detector! It has paid for itself many times over.

I'm looking to move to that car or the EVO in a year or 2 from now. Just like yourself, I'm just feeling that desire for power.

JPL 530 --- I did not get the evo because I liked the exterior and interior of the STI better even though the EVo is the faster car.

Black-TSX-- My color of choice was blue with bronze wheels. I found this deal to good to refuse and went with black and silver. The tint on it is limo dark and it is only a matter of time before I am pulled over.

Cobalt- Go for it. Just have a back up sedan for the days you want to just chill.

The blue with bronze is nice, there is one in the metro (Wash DC) lot that is pretty nice, although its just a wrx, not an STI. I like the black with bronze as well.

Again good luck with the cars, they are mighty nice.

Hello All,

Just want to update you on my STI. I sold it last weekend for more than I paid for it. I sold the car because in all honesty it was too extreme for me. The speed was great, but the handling was way to firm and the gas mileage was abysmal. I was filing up three times a week and if I laid in the turbo four times a week. Of course I knew this going into the purchase, but I was just so sold on this car being the second coming that I overlooked the drawbacks. My wife absolutely hated this car and I was not getting any rest in my household. And lastly, the check engine light started coming on and I began missing my creature comforts like the navi, steering wheel controls and the smooth ride of the TSX.

I do not regret the purchase and enjoyed the STI for what it is- a purebred racecar for the street. Just wish I could have had the TSX and the STI for the weekend.

I forgot that part. Do not laugh at my new ride. I got a great deal on it and love it. Let me lay the foundation first. I have one 2 year old and a newborn on the way in November. I picked up a black 05 Pacifica with Navigation, DVD player for the kids and 19inch chrome wheels. Rides great and the family loves it. I guess once you go Navi you can never go back.

My friend is a Chrysler dealer - he drove a Pacifica for a while. Very much liked it, so did his wife and kids. I've only sat in it, very nice interior when fully loaded. The only odd thing is the navi in the gauge cluster - only the driver can see it. At any rate, enjoy the new ride!

Wait so you never got the STi?

The Pacifica ain't a bad looking car. 19" chrome rims?? Is that from the factory? Or Aftermarket?

I did get the STI. Never made the first payment on it before I sold it. Figured I should sell it before I racked more miles on it. The 19's are factory. The navi is no where near as good as the TSX, which in my opinion, is 2nd best in the industry behind the RL. The Pacifica Navi does not allow much passenger involvement and is not touchscreen or voice activated either. It is also limited in the things that you can do when the car is moving. But it is better than no Navi and they threw in a free upgrade certificate for next year.

Wow... that you sold the STI for more than you paid! Was that enough to cover the gas bills for it?

Pacifica is one of the smarter looking SUV/minivan (which is it??) on the road The 19" rims will definitely add to that too

Barely enough to cover the gas bills for it. I like to call it my crossover utility vehicle. It is the first American made car I have ever owned so my fingers are crossed for reliability. I had the tsx since 07/03 and sold it with 48k miles on it and not one problem.

gsi00154,
So how bad was the ride of sti? I was thinking sti or evo's acceleration and handling would overcome the lack of luxury and cost of gas... maybe I need to think more before I jump to the upcoming evo 9 ...

The ride was way to bouncy for me. The stiffness I could handle, but the bounce was insane. A lot of sti members upgraded the springs and strut tops to fix the problem. In all honesty, I did not want to spend the money to fix the handling. The acceleration was fun for about a week and then I started missing the luxury stuff. It would have made a good second car.
