Front Plate Options

I know that front plates have been discussed over and over and over again, but I couldn't find another thread on this.

I got pulled over a hour ago for not having a front plate on my baby and the officer wrote me a fix it ticket. I was wondering, is there any temporary way I can attach the plate without have to drill holes into my bumper? I know I could just tape it, but would a police officer sign off my ticket if I do that?

Let's say I do have them sign it off, then take off my plate again, and then get pulled over again. Would I get in more troubles for doing that?

Thanks guys/gals!

Umm...you do know that the license plate bracket already has pre-drilled holes that it aligns to under the front bumper, right?

Oh crap, I never noticed that haha Thanks!

What are the consequences if I get pulled over again with the plate off? *knocks on wood*

Is there a way they would know, on the spot, that I've been pulled over for it before?

I've been pulled over 11 times in my life for window tint and front plate violations. Everytime was a fix it ticket. I would just pay the tint violation ($10 per window) But the front plate, I would just put it back on, have someone sign off on it and then take it right back off. I've never been hit or threatened with a higher fine.

disclamer. That's just my experience in my state. I don't know for sure where you live. Just don't get tazed.

I have seen people put the license plate on the interior front windshield of the passenger side of the car. Is that legal?

Register your car in a state what doesn't require front plates....... I'm glad we don't have them here in Florida.

that is no legal in CA....probably not anywhere else either...cuz if you are in a front end collision, the license plate could go flying inside the car.

It's not legal where I live. For purposes like stated above. If you are in an accident, that thing becomes a deadly projectile.

You can claim that it's still on the "front" of your car, but the cops can bust you for an "improperly displayed" license if you do that.

i had a front plate ticket and just zip-tied it on and got a cop to sign it off.
he looks at it and he's like "those zip-ties aren't adequate". i was like well i have the mount but i just moved and i don't know exactly where it is. but he actually signed it and i left, got to wherever i was going next, and took it off again

I agree. We should consider ourselves lucky that Honda designed it the way they did. Many cars (including my 05 WRX) require at least 2 big holes in the front bumper for the stupid thing. We have to have the front plate displayed to get an inspection sticker here in Mass., so I just bolt it on, get the inspection then take it off. No damage, no big deal.

Back in my ricer days, I got pulled over on 4 seperate occasions for my "all-clear" tail lights (I know, stupid right?).

Anyways, everytime I got a ticket I just replaced the OEM's got the "fix-it" signed off and slapped the "clears" back on. Each seperate occasion there was no mention from the officer of the prior violation.

But after the fourth time I got sick of it so, in my garage they still remain.

Sorry to revive this old thread but I searched and could not find my answer....

Q: I have seen where some have taken the stock license plate bracket and modified it so the plate hangs below the front bumper. Anyone know how that bracket is modified to do so???

TIA

In my area, the police would only slap on the fix-it ticket for front license plate if you're caught with something more serious like a speeding ticket. Other than that, they leave you alone.

For months, I've been driving without my front plate and many times I've been behind police officers and even face them during left turns but I've never been pulled over. Only when I got a speeding ticket then the police officer slapped the plate ticket on and just casually said "just fix it and the plate fine will be off". I also have tint but I didn't get hassled for that. I go to court and just told the judge I fixed it (without showing proof) and he wrote it off ^_^

Sadly, my front plate is back on because my mom forced me to...

If cops had to pull people over for every violation they saw, you'd always see the police at the side of the road. They usually pick one violation a day to watch out for, such as california stops (not doing a complete stop at a stop sign). Also, they might just be on their C-7 (I work in the police department now, so I'm picking up their lingo...C-7 is lunch)

Go to a hardware store like Lowe's, and pick up some brackets, nuts, and bolts. You can then relocate the plate like I did. I don't think it'll cost more than $10. There are various ways to mount the plate.

people aren't a fan, but it works out with
2 L brackets, some washers, nuts and bolts.

I put mine angled up and in front sort of looks like buck teeth with my car color and the oem lip, but where else would i put it.
