Friend and Dad say the 04 Civic sedan resembles our TSX a little?

Do you think so?

I've seen the revised 04 Civic sedan and it does have the same circular taillights like the TSX. what do you think?

Does the new civic have diff tailights?
I have had many people confuse my car for a civic. They have all not been very car knowledgable people though

ok i just had a look at the 04 sedan civic, the taillights are completely diff imo. The coupe's tailghts look more like the TSX. But the overall shape is somewhat similar.

Could they have been seeing the brand new 04 Acura EL (basically a pimped out civic only sold in Canada)???

The taillights look ripped right out of the TSX. I think it makes the EL look great, IMO...

When I first bought my TSX back in June, my neighbors thought it was a Corolla S... I guess it was because they havn't seen the car anywhere before and they only saw the back of it cuz I didn't my baby sitting in the sun ...I pulled it into the garage...

Well of course it looks like a Civic - it has 4 doors and 4 wheels doesn't it? Considering that's the extent of some folks knowledge of cars it would not suprise me to compare just about any car to any other car, especially when just about every shape and look has already been tried.

If anything, the rear view shares a lot of similarities, other than that, -_-;

The TSX looks about as close to the Civic as the IS300 looks to the Corolla. All car companies try to keep a few exterior design features common between all cars in their lineup.

The second week I parked next to a civic at a mall and the driver asked me where I got my body kit. I was puzzled because I don't have a body kit but then I realized that he thought it was a civic! That's pretty bad.

I think that there is a little similarity from the rear 3/4 view but you'd have to have your beer goggles on to think it's a civic.

I had a discussion with a friend - he said I shouldn't get the TSX because it looks too much like the civic. He got an Audi A4 - and failed see the resemblance to the VW Passat...

ah well. to be honest, i buy a car for me – people can think what they like.

freudy, exactly. All cars of similar make will share similarities. I think the fact that the TSX and civic are very close in size make it a little easier for car noobs to make the mistake. The people who call the TSX are people who dont even really know what a civic looks like. It just look slike a honda, and is about the size of a civic.

Coming from a different angle:

My parents drive a Civic, and the first thing they said when they saw my car was: "It's so big!" They were worried it wouldn't fit into the garage when I came to visit.

Gotta love parents who understand the need to protect a new car. I "kick" their 17 year old Civic out when I come visit.

Oh, looking at the TSX vs. the Civic EX, the TSX is about 9" longer, 2" wider, and 1" higher.

Just thought I'd offer a differing view.

All confusion with the Civic ends as soon as you look inside the TSX. The most striking exterior feature of the TSX is the chrome accents around the windows and the grille. The Civic doesn't even have any chrome, does it? (unless you count the ugly wheels most ricers put on them).

To be honest, the current 325i is a dead ringer for the Civic sedan if you go by the side profile. There are only so many things you can do to make a 4-door sedan unique.

I think the current Civic looks great on the outside anyway, so it's not like its a bad thing the TSX looks similar. Now if only Honda would improve the interior and engine to compete with the Mazda3.

It's so funny your friend and dad say that. Just a while ago, someone photoshopped the TSX into a 2-door coupe, and the consensus was that it ended up looking like a Civic coupe. It's in the Off Topic thread somewhere.

My mom has an '03 Civic. The only chrome bits (apart from logos) on the current gen Civic were the top bar of the grill and trunk lid trim above the licence plate in the MY01-03. These are painted for '04. The 03-04 have the round inset "stealth-rice" brake lights like the TSX. Interior, the only shared parts are the turn signal, wiper stalk and e-brake handle.

That's about all that's common.

i have a feeling some novice car people who walk into Acura and see the TSX will say, well since the TSX is the cheapest sedan in the Acura line, this has to be the luxury civic, not even knowing it is the Euro Accord.

then, they would say the TL is the luxury Accord, which it is.

LoL wtf is everyone talking about. How in the hell does the TSX look like a civic? When I first saw the car way back in October for the first time I was like whoa, where'd that come from. It looked awesome, nice futuristic design and everything. I can see a few resemblances in the exterior design, but overall, there two different cars. The new Civics look nice, but Civics will always be Civics. The TSX is a complete new design which is another reason why I bought the car.

It's a nice car but it truely is just a luxury Civic. I wouldn't buy one but most Canadians love econo cars. Just go to the Toronto Auto Show and see what I mean. I think most US drivers prefer space over fuel economy but if gas prices keep going up you'll probably see a switch in that thinking.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about: http://www.acura.ca/AcuraEng/Models/EL/Overview.htm

i checked that link and looked at the EL, you're right now that is the luxury civic for sure, EL=Civic.

do you know if that EL is made in Canada or from Japan?

another observation i saw, how come they still sell the CL over there in Canada?

also, i think someone said this before, why don't they offer navigation on the TSX's in Canada?

The Navi is only available on the TL and it is mostly to do with the insane royalties our government charges for maps of Canada.
There are a few CLs on dealers lots but I don't think you can order a new one.
Sorry don't know where the EL is made.

With all the other Civics.

We don't get the CL either, pricing is still there just in case there's still any 03's on dealer lots. (Which there are last time I checked)

The CL really didn't sell well in Canada. How did it do in the US?

Badly. That's why they discontinued it.

"Futuristic Design?" Are you sure you were looking at the TSX? Acura hasn't done anything in the neighborhood of futuristic since the NSX.
