Folding mirrors

Hey I just discovered this the other day. Its not mentioned in the manual, at least I don't think it is. But as I was fooling around I was able to fold it outwards (mirrors facing out)...I tried folding it closed but it doesn't seems to go that direction.

Don't want to force it but has anybody tried put it in the closed position?

Thx

i have. it's fine. didn't have much resistance though. I mean you have to be firm, but shouldn't feel forced if that makes any sense.

yeah

just pull it, it wont break, although i did not know it went outwards (mirrors facing out) i believe this feature is to protect your mirror from breaking off when your backing out of a tight fit like a small garage or in between beams....my dad has this on my 04f-150

Actually, the folding mirrors are when you are in tight areas, like garages, or parking on a narrow street. If you ever been in Japan you would understand completely. These peeps park in some really tight spots! You wonder how the driver ever gets in or out of the car!

My "family" car is a Toyota Sequoia (huge beast) and it has automatic folding mirrors for those specific cases. Pull in the garage and press the botton and both mirrors fold in. Its great to free up some walking space in the garage when both cars are in the garage...

I meant folding the mirror in... counter-clockwise about 90 degrees on the driver's side.

Wow, that's a revelation to me, didn't know my mirror folds. If you think about it, folding it outwards makes sense as it also protects against a car chopping your mirror off as you're parallel parked on the street.
