Cool Fog light mod question here-------LOOK SEE

I want to be able to turn on my fog lamps when only the parking lights are on. I have a 2006 TSX. I modded my old TL 2003 for the same thing and it was sweet. Has anyone done this? is there a DIY? Thanks!!

Are these OEM ones?
If so...you just need to find the signal wire behind the switch in the dash and wire into your parking lights wire (one of the red/black wires right behind on a 3G).

Before you do this...do you have HID's in your fogs? I ended up rewiring mine back to the low beams because as you know it is bad for the HID ballast to have it click on and off constantly and since your parking lights blink when you lock/unlock...your fogs will too.

How do i do that? The fog lamps are right where the head lamps switch is.

So are you going to want to have to remember to turn off your fogs every time you turn off the lights?
It got annoying to me and it's VERY bad for the ballast to have them click on and off every time you lock the car.

If you want to go ahead with it anyway...
Then you need to open up your stalk switch...or the wires coming out of it and figure out which one is for the fogs...then figure out which one is the trigger for them and switch it from your oem to your parking lights. I'm not sure what wires they are, just the concept for how to do it. Maybe some TSX guys can tell you an easier way to swap some wires in the engine bay?

Even if you have HID fogs or not, you should be fine wiring to the "parking lights". The parking lights do not blink on the TSX, it has its own independent blinker between the low and high lamps not to mention the side mirrors also. Just wire into the parking/corners lights and you should be fine. Also your fog lamp switch should still operate normally.

Yes, the parklights do blink with the key remote... but not with the turn signals. The key remote blinking could be bad too.

The way I've seen it rewired is such that the fog stalk switch, the parklight relay, and the fog relay coil are all in a series. This means that if you leave the stalk switch off, then the fogs won't blink with the parklights when you press the fob.

From my observations, I personally would conclude that blinking is bad for ballasts.

Well, yes, you CAN shut off the switch to avoid this problem...but then you HAVE to remember to turn them on and off.
For me, I NEVER ran just my fogs with parking lights because it's not that important to me so it was better for me to have my fogs come on with my low beams automatically so I A) don't have to remember to turn them off B) don't burn out my ballasts.

If you want the fogs to come on with the parklights and just leave the switch on, but you don't want them to blink with the fob, then there are other solutions with advantages and disadvantages.

I would switch one of the fog relay coil wires (the ones you cut to do this mod) with a new SPDT relay (NC channel), and I would power the new relay's coil by the accessory socket + wire (white/red). This way, the fogs will turn on when you turn on the parklights, but only if the car is on (assuming you leave the fog switch on). You won't be able to turn on the fogs with the car off, but it will allow you to leave the fog switch on without the blinking and still have parklight dependence.

OP, take a look at the thread clee linked to above. Let us know more specifically how you want to use your fogs. For example, do you like to leave the switch on so they come on with the parklights automatically? The wiring you do depends on how you want to use them.

edit: its too late to edit my last post.

Sorry, I meant a regular relay in paragraph 2, not the NC channel of an SPDT

my mistake

Im trying to do this to my 2010 tsx. but i cant find any instructions for my car.
also, if the fogs will blink with the door unlock, will they blink with the turn signals too?
i just put in led fogs so im not too worried about it going on and off with the door lock, but with the turn signal would just be stupid

No, there are 2 circuits for the parking lights...one is parking light, one is turn signal.
Parking light signal is unaffected by turn signal.

I would also like to know if this mod will work on the 2nd gens. I'm probably going to try it Monday anyway, but confirmation would be nice before I dig in...
