First service visit

I just made an appointment for my first oil change at the dealer and I have one looming concern over my head.

What kind of additional crap is the dealer going to try to spin on me? Have any of you experienced dealer service "super sizing". You really just need an oil change but
we recommend that you do the super duper Acura 5,000 mile service for only $$$$.$$.

What do you really need to do to the car at this time? What should I be weary of?

Thanks!

just follow the maintenance schedule in the manual and you'll be fine.

I've experienced it first hand with our Civic when we take it to the local Honda dealer. We "recommend" this and we "recommend" that.... Never had any service super-sizing from my Acura dealer. If they start on you just say you want to stick with the MANUFACTURERES recommended services. Tell em to

Ya.. I think it shouldn't happen to an Acura dealer because if they start telling you to add on other services, it's equal to telling u that the maintenance that they recommend is WRONG or that they know nothing.

First visit was by the book except that they replaced the window wiper blades for free.

Per the manufacturer's recommendations, you are only due for an oil change. That's it. The K-series engines need less maintainance than other Hondas. Just go by the book. When you call to set an appointment, just tell them (line-by-line) what you want done. It makes things easier for both parties. Yes, they're going to inspect any other fluids and filters, tire tread depths, brake linings/rotor surfaces, and maintainance items along these lines...if you follow your book properly, you won't have to worry about any approaches from your dealer when it comes to other "recommended" maintainance. Tires and brakes are another story. Those are items that are based on wear. That part is in your hands.
