Cool Going to the dark side (sort of)

Ok ... maybe not the dark side ... but more like going to another side of the same party

Within the next week I'll likely be stepping in to a lease on an '05 TL 6MT. The TSX has been an awesome car, but I just gotta have more power and a bit more room in the rear. I do like to change cars often so 2 years with the TSX is not great, but it's about a year short of what I'll likely be doing from here on out. Since I work at home and like to change cars ... leasing is just gonna make sense for me.

Deciding between SSM and Anthracite ... but either with ebony interior, non-navi, 6MT, and all the goodies that the TL brings (can't wait to use the handsfree bluetooth setup ... I take calls in the car a lot).

So I'll be in the Acurazine family still of course, but gonna be spending most of the time surfing the TL side of the planet. You know'll my heart will still be with tsx.zine as an early founder of this area and working with soopa to get it going from day 1. It's been an awesome ride.

Maybe it's the new baby ... I think I heard him whisper to me to get a new TL when he was born the other day (in addition to being born during the Final four UNC game and telling me UNC was gonna win it all - ).

Any tips? I think I am gonna try to splurge for A-Spec on day 1 to get the TL as tight as possible in a lease so I don't miss my TSX THHHHAT much

P.S. I'm probably going to drive a 6MT '05 G35 this week (295 = not shabby), but I'll likely not go that route because the interior still just doesn't do it for me no matter how quick that car is.

Ouch man. Feels like a knife in my back.

Will you be back with the T when the Turbo version comes out?

You are doing what I want to do. With my son, I want more room in the back as well. Also, I like the idea of the Bluetooth and the DVD-A. In any case, good luck.

provench, do you remember our discussions from a while back regarding our trade-in's? We both had CL-S's traded in for new TSX's if I'm not mistaken.

I hadn't even seen your thread before I posted questions about the pricing of my TSX. I'm looking at doing the same thing as you. I may sell my TSX for an 05 TL. Pretty weird timing that we are talking about the same thing again at the same time. I'm looking for the extra power, much the same as you. I'd probably go with a black TL with ebony interior, navi & 6MT.

Any idea what the current rate is for financing these days?

Sauce - Naw man ... sticking to the V6 power ... and I sat in a TL the other day and it's like a TSX on roids to be honest. I felt right at home in it, just that everything was about 20% more. My buddy ran his DVD-A test disk ... umm ... HOLY CRAP it rocks!

wsklar - I hear ya man ... I'll let you know how it works out, but I'm looking at rigging up my new TL with full time car seats so the wife and I can split the kids (and keep our sanity) now that we have 3. We took out the Ody today with all 3 kids for the first time and it took us like 45 minutes to get out the door - HAHA

Handruin - Too wierd! And I do remember the CLS->TSX move being the same as well (my took a middle hope, but same difference )

DanM - Thanks bro ... you know I'll be lurking here ... and today when I stopped by the Infiniti dealer for a quick flyover of the G35 ... it just didn't feel right. Honda/Acura is in my blood (well - truth be told I have Carolina blue blood, but still ).

How the hell do you only have 7K posts?

Good luck with the TL. You're following the upgrade pattern that Acura was hoping for. Do stop by and visit us entry level guys once in a while.

to see you go Prov, but I do hope you enjoy your TL. I'm thinking about possibly taking that road when my TSX lease is up in 2 years. But in the meantime, no kids, no wife, no girlfriend = no responsibility = fun in the TSX.

I give up

BTW - I'm getting that itch to change cars too.

The new IS250 will definently warrant a test drive when available. The A3 looks good too.

domn, who's ready to stray from the Honda family.

No. Actually I'm amazed he has such a low post count. The folks who have been around from the early days have way over 10K now. I know, I know, quality vs. quantity.

I really like that damn Rendezvous so far. The exterior styling leaves alot to be desired but the praticality has been great.

Buick sedans

Besides, as of right now I have enough diapers to get the kid through to college

Hope you don't take too much of a on the trade in value! haha.

Actually Prov and I have always been in close to the same step in terms of car shopping..both looking at tsxs, both almost bought tl-s on the cheap and then accord v6s. I can't fault you for wanting to step up to the bigger badder car. If I was in a better financial situation I would be doing the same thing....but I figure in another year or two when the new IS and Audis are in full force I will proably reassess the situation.

good for you, prov. it's a very good upgrade. the tl was my 2nd choice too. now, you'll be in the a-tl often, but their members are going to keep you in a-tsx. i mean, our members will keep you in a-tsx.

Test drove the G35 today ... it's out ... the interior and technology are a step back. Cheap materials and lack of features. It's a major no go no matter what's under the hood.

Can't wait to get my overnight test on TL this Saturday and maybe even take delivery on next Monday ....

Now I just have to decide between SSM and Antracite (ebony interior is a given for me).

Good choice!!!! But too big for me... too bad (at least not for now... for those who are confused, please read my entries in the 'Stupid things we have done to our cars' and you will totally agree with me... hahahahaha).

So you have to start planning on the RL in 2 years!!!!

Welcome!!!! The TL is a great car. I considered trading my '02 on the TSX when it first came out. Way above my experiences with loaner Integras. The TSX loves to rev and was fun to drive fast. It looks good and the interior had a nice lay out to it. Yet when the TL came out the size was just right (minus the shrunken trunk :angryfire
I have the auto, SSM, Navi, and quartz. My last TL was black on black. Beautiful but black leather does get hot (dispite Acura's great A/C system) and with no cooling function for the seats I chose a lighter color. And I will also say the V6 is fun. You'll get to enjoy it more with your 6spd.

Have fun!!

Man I drove a 05 g35 auto today, holy crap the interior is bad, I'm almost afraid to see what a 04 was like if this was an upgrade. I actually liked the seats, except the bolsters were too narrow for me, but the dash materials are horrible and the layout is ugly IMO. Acura interior

I'm just concerned that 36 months to look while I am on my lease won't be long enough ... Hmmm ... but the next Gen TL does come out in '08 sooooo

Yeah - it's partially about the power, but more about the space, quieter, more technology ... and most of all ... a decision that leasing is good for me. I like to get in/out of cars in 3 years and there is just no way to do that when you are buying (regardless of how well they hold value). Maybe one day I'll change, but I am done spending money trying to convince myself to stay in a car for more then 3 years ... and leasing guarantees me I stay at zero at the end of each lease. And if for any reason I find that one car that I can hold on to for another 3 years, the money I saved in lease payments vs. load payments will almost cover the added cost of buying after leasing vs. buying outright.

All in all ... I am just stoked to get a TL ... and happy that I looked at the Infiniti that I can buy at invoice and walked away ... closure is good.
