Thumbs up First Impression...

I got my new 2005 Acura TSX (Satin Silver Metallic / Ebony / Automatic / Navigation) today!!

I ordered it back in October, and haven't ridden in one since... in fact this was my first time to lay eyes on a 2005 model.

I forgot how nice it is... the 100 mile drive home was great... in fact it was so fun I missed my exit (even with the Nav going LOL). The last stretch of road to my house has a lot of tight 30-40 MPH curves... man that was fun. This car handles so well.

Once I got the steering wheel and seat the way I wanted, it was soooo comfortable too. So far I like everything about it (but I've only had it a few hours).

To get an idea of the quantum leap in what I'm used too, check out what I traded in (1994 Mercury Tracer).

Some before / after action:

I can't believe you traded in that car for a TSX... hehe.

I'm glad you like it! BTW, your dash photo above is one of the best night time dash photos I've seen on this board. Well done.

Very nice! Well deserved, you'll be smiling for miles and miles and miles. I know I still am at 16,492 miles. Enjoy!

Well if that was a before and after photo then it would make for one hell of an episode of Pimp My Ride.

Thanks, after your comment, I was going to post a link to the 5 megapixel version, but I just looked at it again, and it's really not much better big since I didn't hold the camera absolutely still. I did get a really clear shot of of it resting the camera on the steering wheel, but it doesn't show all the gauges. I'll try getting more shots of this thing while it's all shiny new, and perfect, and if I get some better shots, I'll start a thread in the gallery forum.

You know, as amazing as the instruments look, the only gripe I have, and it's VERY minor is the way the speed is numbered. My old car had every 10 MPH labeled with a thick dash between. Since about half the speed limits end in "5" it made it easy to follow. But this new one, with it only showing every 20, there are no indicators on the 5's so it's not quite as easy to keep it at 55 for instance. Plus with this thing being so freakin smooth and fast, I fear some speeding tickets coming on just because of the speedometer... lol I'm sure I'll get used to it though, and it'll be second nature.

All he needs is a 42" plasma TV in the trunk with a PS2 hooked up!

Hey Mega, I picked up my 2005 SSM/Navi/AT yesterday too! Got $400 for my trade, so I was very pleased. I will miss "old faithful". Despite some problems I could never say it wasn't a reliable car, but the new car is just great. Loving it and loving the Navi!

My trade:

And the new purchase:

Damn, I better take some pics of my POS soon before I trade it in. Now if only my TSX would ever arrive. It was supposed to be here on 01/29. My dealer has a Tuesday 8PM ultimatum to get it to me or else I head to another dealer.

Thanks guys... already have over 200 miles on this baby, and still loving it.

theoryzero, That's a heck of an upgrade for you too... kinda neat to see other people making a big upgrade. I actually got $500 for mine if you can believe it. I had the original stereo with me in a bag in case they asked for it... LOL But since they didn't I'm gonna sell it on eBay. It's pristine since within a month of owning the car I'd replaced it with an aftermarket system (which I'll be selling that too).

The coolest thing about that old beater I was driving is I've sold it 3 times! Several years ago, I had a wreck, other driver's fault, they estimated damage as more than they car's value ($2500) so they wrote me a check for the car's value minus it's salvage value, and I kept the car. Got it fixed for about $1300 (obviously not 100% fixed) and pocketed ~ $1000. Then about a month ago (after I'd already ordered my TSX) I had another wreck... same story, other driver's fault. This time the car's value was $1700, and it was totaled again. So I got a check out of that one too, and didn't fix ONE THING. Then of course finally, I sold it to Sterling Acura for $500. W00T!

BTW,

I updated the "after" shots above to more closely match the angles of the "before" shots... but since my shot of the instrument panel got some comments, here is that shot again:

I think all the ones that have the illuminated buttons are the darker color with light text. I assume all '05 TSX's have illuminated buttons, but I'm not 100% sure about non USA models.

Congrats on the new car. And do be careful, the TSX is so smooth that its very easy to stray beyond the speed limit without realizing it.
