Farewell fellas?

Im selling my car and getting a new car. Its not that im not happy with my car, but i grew out of the mod game, fast, and want something a bit faster. Im either gonna private sell it, or trade it in.

I have a few questions, i have an 04 ABP, with not even 25k miles. Its in very good condition, always oil changes every 3k miles, no major accdients, just some scratches/etc.

How much would trade-in value be?

Private sell it? With all the mods? or none.

The only mods that would be a pain, would be swapping back the headers/stock exhaust, of course which i would part out with, at a very fair price.

So, just wondering what my best bet would be.

I plan on getting the 06 325i , i pay 368 a month financing, does anyone know about how much my monthly payment would up for this pretty nicely equipped car? (sport package, xenons, sirius, heated seats, park assist, sunroof) ?

I would recommend parting out the mods. You'll get more money for them. If you keep the mods on the car, you'll get screwed in a trade-in so private sell it. If you return the car to stock, you might consider trading it in.

On my 04 AT non-navi w/ 31k+ miles, I got $19.5k, but that was nearly 2 months ago so the pricing will probably have dropped a little by now. Private sale, expect to be able to command a couple grand more over trade-in value, if stock. Use kbb.com to help you determine how best to price your car.

As for your new car, if you were financing it and paying $368, expect to put a shit load more down to keep your monthly payment at that. Tell me how much you want to put down, how long you're willing to spread the term over, and what you want to target in terms of monthly payments and I can run the numbers for you.

Also, expect a target price for that BMW to be about $38k msrp and, if you get lucky, you might be able to talk them down to around $35k-$36k.

Sorry to see you go, but you gotta do what's right for ya. Don't be a stranger and make sure you come back to visit so we can make fun of your DBZ hair and popped color.

Well, the car is going for about 22~ , and i owe the bank 14, so i have 8-10 k to play with. (my downpayment) Id say 8k downpayment, lease for 3 years, 12k mileage a year. I want no more then 455 a month.

Whatever you do, do not take the full $8k and use it for a lease. That's just throwing money away. At most, use half.

If you're doing a lease, you might be able to use a BMW special lease program as a starting point. Check out the BMW website and see what their specials are. Usually they'll have a $3300 drive-off, 10k miles per year, $329 a month lease on the base 3-series. Use this as the starting point and determine what options you want to add on first. I would say that with about $3300 drive-off, and 12k miles, you should be able to get most of the options you want for around the monthly payment you are willing to expend.

Also, get a couple of quotes and find out what will be the likely sale price on a car with the options you want. That will go a long ways towards helping determining how much the lease will be.

Private sell man............ If you decide to trade in, you'll lose a lot, and they'll charge you for the labor in removing your mods *ouch*

'06 325 is nice but it seems a little over priced as everything the tsx offers is an option with them. Still it is a really sexy car and handles so nicely. I'd say go part out your stuff and if you trade it in put that $$$ towards the lease/finance.

You'll get a LOT more that way as the dealer won't give you the value of your car + mods, just the value of your car.

Ill visit as if i still own the TSX , right now its just an idea im trying to make happen.

I will have to shop around, and CG, thanks for the tips, i was unaware of that lease program.

I think im going to visit the same dealership my mom leased her bmw x3 from, hopefully it will do me some good in regards to a discount?

I also like the is250, and g35c , but those seem to fall directly in the same price range.

If i do part out, dont worry , great prices for all !

Id probably have to sell....
Fuji Cat back exhaust
Comptech rear sway
DC headers (no problems for 3 months so far)
Fog lightbulbs
Front strut (unopened in box)

, hopefully this cash flow would help with a downpayment.

Hey CG, why not such a large downpayment?

On a lease, the larger the downpayment, the more money you're just throwing away. On a buy, putting in a large downpayment means smaller monthly payments and added equity towards the vehicle, which you will likely keep. On a lease, that money you use to lower the monthly payments is bascially being thrown away since you can never recoup any of that money.

If you're gonna do such a large down payment, consider a total upfront payment lease where instead of monthly payments, you pay the entire amount up front and never have to worry about a monthly payment again.

Just a few things to think about.

What methods u think i should go for when i go in to negotiate a price? Although i will be paying for this car myself, i will surely bring my father due to his cut-throat negotiating abilities, as he used to own car dealerships back when i was a todler.

But still, i would like some tactics when going myself, i fear i wont be taken seriously

Make dealers compete against eachother, the 325 is hard negotiate because basically, they could give a fuck about your business. Someone is going to walk in 10 seconds after you and buy the car. So you have to act like you don't need their business. In order to really deal on a car, you have to have the balls and the ability to walk out without making a deal.

You go at the end of the month and go back and forth to a couple different dealers, showing each of them the lowest offers until none of them will go any lower.
