factory spoiler
factory spoiler
when I picked up my '07 from the dealer on monday, it was the last TSX they had on the lot. Unfortunately, it did not come with the factory installed rear wing spoiler which I love the look of.
I talked to the dealership about having one put on, and they explained that they would order one, color-match it to my car (NHBP), drill some holes, and install it for me. This brought up a few concerns for me.
I remember back in 1989, my father had a bright red honda prelude (which I thought was the coolest car ever at the time), and it was involved in an accident a number of years after it was purchased. When the honda dealership color-matched new panels for his car, they came out a different shade of red, and made the car look like patchwork.
So what I'm asking is, do you think that acura would be better at color matching than honda was. and would the color (black on my car) be more easily matched?
Also, would the fact that the car is only a few days old and its color still currently in production have a positive effect on the color-matching process?
Lastly, would the dealer installation of a rear spoiler be as solid as a factory install?
thanks for your replies!

I wouldnt really worry too much because I have the same color car and its a pretty straight forward color to paint. If u feel as if the dealer will not do a good job then your best bet is to take it to a body shop to have it painted and installed.
The OEM spoiler comes from Acura pre-painted to match the car. The dealer won't be "color matching" the spoiler because it comes out of the box that way. They are always a virtually perfect match. Your dad's Prelude was a much different deal because the body shop was trying to match a probably slightly faded car and red is a notoriously hard color to match.
